Ladies, I have a question. We want a third child, but my youngest daughter demands so much attention. So I was wondering if it's really wise to start a third?

Ladies, I have a question. I have two little girls; the oldest is almost five (end of January) and the youngest is 3. Now I want to go for a third, but my youngest daughter, Vanessa, asks for a lot of attention. She's a quiet child, but she really just wants to be with me. She also often argues with the oldest about who gets to sit on my lap. The oldest is again a very busy child, really hyperactive. So now I'm hesitating. I really want a third child, but I have a little fear that I won't manage it. I'd like to ask how other mothers see this, what do you think: go for a third or better wait a few more years? Greetings, Sieta

Kids will always have to adjust to the arrival of a new brother or sister, but you also shouldn't forget that children are very flexible in situations where you expect it to become a problem. If you really want a third child, you definitely shouldn't let it depend on your youngest. But if it really seems like a problem to you, maybe it's a good idea to consult a child coach or psychologist to see how you can make it easier for your youngest to share attention. What works well for us is giving the attention-seeker some 'real' attention (so not with half an eye on the laptop), and then they can play on their own just fine, giving you time for the other child or for yourself.
    Wishing you all the best!
