stiff neck

anoniemGuest ·
I woke up this morning with an incredibly painful, stiff neck..
Is there anything I’m allowed to use? I’m sitting with a heating pad on, which gives some relief for a bit, and a warm shower helped too, but as soon as the warmth wears off, the excruciating pain starts again.. I can only look to one side, can’t look up. Only to the right and slightly straight ahead.. I have to go to work soon, so anyone got a useful tip?

I'm 7 weeks pregnant, by the way.

I think you can safely use tiger balm, Weleda's arnica oil is definitely good, and keep warm! If the pain is really intense, you can just take a paracetamol, no worries.

    Thanks for the tips!
I've kept it warm all day, and can already look a bit further up and very slightly to the left.. Hope it'll be better again tomorrow.. Currently there's a cherry pit pillow again.. Not really pleasant with this warm weather but it's the only way to relieve the pain.
I take as little medication as possible anyway, so especially now with the pregnancy, I know paracetamol won't hurt if you limit it. But yeah, it's between my ears, so I'd rather grit my teeth for a few days .
    Everything for our little wonder.

SRL gel from VSM is also fine to use during pregnancy.

Maybe physio? If something is stuck, they'll loosen it.

    Thanks for all the tips!
I don’t think it’s really necessary right now, but apparently it could be hormonal, so I might experience this more often now… It’s already much better, I still can’t look fully to the left but it’s starting to work.
Physio was indeed also an option if it hadn’t improved by today…
I kept it warm all day yesterday, and still did today in between… And in the evening I asked my husband for a massage, with regular body lotion… It’s a matter of relaxing, right?

I've actually been having muscle issues too and have been to the physio a couple of times. Just to keep things loose. It's related to hormones, and for me, it's also because my belly is growing and my posture is shifting a bit. I figured I wouldn't wait too long. I'd just go to the physio. And it really helps. I've taken a week off, and if it goes well, I'll only go back if I need to. My muscles have been bothering me a lot today again. So I took a bath with Thermen Relax salt for relaxation.. normally I'd just say yeah, sure.. but this time I really felt relaxed. I even dozed off to sleep hehe.. luckily I have a dog who barks then. If I'm alone, I take him with me to the bathroom. He doesn't like it at all when I close my eyes and starts barking right away hehe. He's only allowed to come along to watch over me; he reacts immediately if he doesn't trust something.. he's been doing this since I got pregnant. Before, he was a stubborn little beast hehehe.
