student and pregnant

Hi everyone,
I'll be turning 18 in August. I still have one more year of school left, but I'll be giving birth around November. I'm going to have a lot of work for my final project next year, and I'd rather take a year off from school to take care of my baby. Since I probably won't pass next year anyway, does anyone know if it's possible to stay home for a year and then return to school the following year?

I think you'd best take this question to your school counselor .

    Yeah, that’s possible..
I think you have to apply for it with the government somehow and then you can continue with your studies the following year. I’m just turning seventeen and have a five-month-old daughter, but I took time off for five weeks and I’m catching up during the summer holidays.. Of course, this has to be possible if you choose to do it and it should be your preference..

Taking a year off seems nice in hindsight! Having all the time for your little one and getting some rest is really important because school is harder than you think! Wishing you lots of strength and success in everything!

Do you still live at home, or are you married or living together?

    Love, Hartje

ok thanks I'll definitely see if I can stay home for a year, that would indeed be very nice and also much better for the little one.
I still live at home, my boyfriend might come live with me for a while but we'll see what we can do

As far as I know, that's definitely not a problem since you're already at an age where you're no longer required to attend school. If I were a teacher, I'd recommend you brush up on certain subjects every now and then, otherwise you'll have to dive back in after not seeing them for a year, which would be pretty tough. If you check them out occasionally, that should definitely help, I think. Good luck!

My parents thought it was better if I went to school, so I'm starting school and going on maternity leave from October to February. I'm almost 28 weeks pregnant now

    Greetings

You can also apply for a half-year extension of your studies!

Hey, I'm 16 now and I'm 6 weeks pregnant. My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years now, and we want to keep the baby. But I still have to go to school, and my parents don't support me—they want me to have an abortion, but I don't want that. What should I do?
