Let them cry?

From when on can you let your baby cry for a bit? My son (now 6 months) sometimes screams, and when I go into his room, he's laughing and there's nothing wrong. Then I walk away, and right as I close the door, he starts screaming again. I'm just not good at letting him cry for a bit, and I don't know if it's bad for him. Do your sons/daughters fall asleep on their own? Love, Manon

    @Manon,

    This is separation anxiety. There are lots of articles about this topic.
    How do I show my son that I'll be back soon..
    When he goes to sleep in the afternoon I tell him you're going to bed now but mommy will be back in an hour when you've slept...And it helps. For me then, maybe it works for you too but maybe something different....My son is now 6 months 3 weeks and 6 days.. and yes he does cry a little bit.. But it's not bad it passes
    I always put my son to bed awake he falls asleep on his own..
    It could also be teething..

    that's really hard, I can't get him to lie down quickly either hihi

    our little boy is now 4 weeks old:

    He's often wide awake in the evenings. The last feed takes a while before he falls asleep, then he wakes up again around 3/4 hours later and then again around 7. But my question is, sometimes he wakes up twice a night. I check if he needs a clean diaper, sometimes soothing him or walking around helps too, or if it's gas.

    He doesn't sleep that much in my opinion during the day.
    but that will be different for every baby

    My son, who is now 6, had that too, and I just let him cry it out for a bit. It wasn't fun, but it does pass, indeed.
    Now hopefully the second one will show up in October, and around that time I'll probably do the same thing again... Only then they'll know what they've got with you, and they'll quickly get used to it!

    You just have to figure out what's going on, of course. It could be anything: cramps, being too cold/hot, trouble sleeping, or hunger. You need to get to know your baby; he's only 4 weeks old now. It's just starting! Nighttime sleep is getting better anyway. Let me know again.
    But sometimes I have the idea that he knows exactly what's up, and I manage somehow, hehe.
    If he cries for a bit, we go check. If he's on the breast, it's over, you know, hehe. Well, he's still so small

    @The ladies,

    You can't spoil a baby, but you can help them get used to certain habits. And yes, Irma, getting to know your baby is something really special. Your baby spent 9 months in your belly, and then suddenly they're here (of course, not without a fight)...

    Then the big adjustment to each other and a new lifestyle begins...

    I read a lot about it because even though I've become a mom for the 3rd time, I've lost count of how much I've forgotten. It wasn't until the 5th month that I had a bit of an "oh, oh, wow, that's what..." feeling.

    But every day is a new day, and I'm still learning, also from you all and your tips and tricks, and I'm really happy about that...

    Love from me

    One thing I know for sure: a mother's feeling is so special, so unique. Now you know what it is! I wouldn't want anything else. What do you think of his baby? And it's incredible how a baby knows who their parents are, such a close bond.

    We also want a second child, but only when Dean is about 1 year old or so. For now, first things first: enjoying this little man.

    I’m letting Youssef do 2 naps during the day now, and he hardly cries anymore except before bedtime. And in the evening, he’s suddenly sleeping through the night and doesn’t take a bottle at 12 anymore???? So then he sleeps from 8 to 6, takes a bottle, and sleeps until 8 again. Youssef still doesn’t fall asleep on his own (he used to for a while). Now he only falls asleep when I sit on a big yoga ball with him on my lap and bounce a little—it looks ridiculous but it works haha! Love

    @Manon,

    It might look a bit odd, Manon, but it's the method for Yuessef, so just keep going. In the womb, he was constantly rocked back and forth. On Nederland 1 today, after the 6 PM news, a "new method" was introduced. Well, people are raving about it and workshops are being held... Maybe you can look it up online later, it was on Tuesday... It's about shushing in the baby's ears and rocking back and forth on the belly...

    Just think that every child has a different way of being approached... And every method that works is okay, so you've figured it out for your son... I'm so happy for you, enjoy him...

    Greetings Ju
