Do you need extra vitamins if you barely eat any meat?

My gynecologist told me I don't need to take extra vitamins since we don't eat meat. But now I'm reading here and there that it's different... I do eat meat sometimes between my sandwiches, so I'm not completely vegetarian. But I don't take any vitamins or anything like that.
Now I'm starting to feel unsure about this...

I was advised to take vitamins for pregnant women. I take Gavitamon for pregnant women from the pharmacy, and it contains everything a pregnant woman needs, including folic acid. So you don't need to take extra folic acid then

Really? Oh dear... I did take folic acid until the 3rd month. After that, nothing more. Now we eat very varied fresh veggies every day and I don't feel tired or anything... Hope I'm getting enough for my little smurf!

aaaach of course... vegetables etc. are also very important so, if you don't eat meat every day well!!. People who are vegetarian don't eat meat either so hihi

But doesn't it not matter if you take too many vitamins? I think you just pee them out.

It depends on which vitamins... too much vitamin B isn't good, and I know for sure that you just pee out vitamin C again!!

Curious, I'm going to the midwife for the first time on the 24th instead of the gynecologist... Maybe I should start taking vitamins right away... I've been taking magnesium for restless legs at night... It might be a bit better, but I'm still waking up every night.

You shouldn't take too much of the fat-soluble vitamins, those are A, D, E, and K. Simply because your body stores them, so you don't just pee them out. Too much of these vitamins can cause side effects. The rest are water-soluble, including vitamin B; if you take too much of them, you just pee it out again. I once had to take a course of vitamin B... The doctor once said that if your urine is strongly discolored, you should reduce the dosage... Because that means you're excreting too much B, which means your reserves are full. But continuing to take it won't do any harm... Because it's not stored in your body anyway.

Hi! I'm vegetarian, and all the vitamins you can get from meat can also be obtained from plants Basically, if you eat a healthy and varied diet, you'll get everything you need. By the way, I do take vitamin pills (but I did that even when I was still eating meat as a kid). I always use the ETOS brand with extra vitamin B (since it doesn't contain any animal products and is suitable for vegetarians).

I'm now 24 weeks along and everything is fine with our little one... so varied and healthy food is enough!

It's actually the same as for meat-eaters if you don't eat a varied enough diet, you need vitamin pills, otherwise not .

During pregnancy, you need more because your baby grows on your reserves, so it's highly recommended to take extra prenatal vitamins. Not so much for your little one, since they're already getting all the good stuff from you, but for yourself, because you might not be fully replenishing those reserves just through food alone.

Yeah, it's definitely necessary because you don't get everything from your diet anymore. It used to be that way, but not anymore.

    Ha, I'm vegetarian too.
I'd just get your B12 checked. You can basically only get it from animal products. Eggs help a bit.
If I don't take B12 supplements, I get tired much faster.
You can also get your B12 tested at the midwife's if you're unsure.
