Getting pregnant with an irregular cycle

I stopped 9 months ago. And I've been waiting for my period for 3 months now. I took a test 2 weeks ago and it was negative. I've been trying for a baby since April 13th.

Is there a chance I'm pregnant or will become pregnant? I've been irregular even before I started the pill, which means my chances are lower. I'm thinking about calling my GP for advice.
I've had lower abdominal pain for 4 weeks and a bloated stomach. And I've been getting a lot of pimples all of a sudden, but yeah, I heard that can also be from stopping the pill.

I find it so stupid to keep testing, it feels so desperate. What do you think?

    Hi Aaap123;

Have you ever had a period after stopping the pill?
If not, I’d make an appointment with your GP right away. Because within half a year, your body should have resumed menstruation. It’s still possible that you’re irregular. If you were irregular before starting the pill, that’s probably still the case now.
What helps me is keeping a menstrual calendar.

I had that too, and I have PCOS. With my first son, I had stopped the pill and hadn't had a cycle for 1.5 years! And now with the second, it's irregular again...

Oh no, I stopped the pill in January. My first cycle was about 38 days long, the second one 46 days, and now I'm on day 49... I've been getting breakouts since I stopped the pill. For me, tracking my temperature helps, so you can see if you're ovulating at all.

@123 aap; that's so frustrating with such big differences. Then you really don't know where you stand. Hopefully everything is okay. I've also had a vaginal ultrasound before. It's always nice to hear that everything is fine.

I got the results back - PCOS.
I'll be called back on Wednesday to discuss next steps.
Everything else looked good though, the cervix and uterus looked fine, and there was nice lining, as she said. So yeah, now we wait.

    @123aap123; that's a shame, and now what?

    @ Aap,

Nothing to worry about at all... you can do a lot with PCOS , the first one happened spontaneously after 1.5 years without medication despite having no cycle, so it doesn't mean anything... it doesn't mean you're infertile .
And now with the second one, yes... stopped the pill last July... in December referred to the fertility clinic... got Clomid 50 mg and got pregnant the first time in January .. now you don't necessarily have to get pregnant right away, you might need a higher dose, but they can do a lot with PCOS... so keep going and aim for a fertile time !!

    Greetings Chantal

Okay, luckily, I hear more and more that I don't need to worry, but it's still a bit less easy. That's what she said.
I'll probably get Clomid too, but I'll be called back on Wednesday, and then I'll hear more. I'll probably need to get my blood drawn first, and I think I'll get something to bring on my period because in 1.5 weeks, it'll have been 4 months since I last had it.

I'll send a little message again.
Now after the hospital, it's June 21st, after the fertility department. I had to fill out questionnaires together with my boyfriend. I find it all so scary and exciting, I don't know at all what's going to come my way or what's going to happen next. But let it just come to me as it may. I'm still not on my period. Luckily, my stomach ache is much less now.

    Now waiting until next Friday.

    @ Aap,

Yes, that's right, we also had to fill out a questionnaire like that.
When you get there, they first discuss everything about the process and how they're going to handle it.
We got medication right away and I had to have my blood drawn!!
Once all that is done and all the tests are completed...they'll start with the medication

Same problem here @123aap123. We're going for our first baby and it's been over 7 months since my last period. Occasionally a tiny spot and that's it!

My partner and I also filled out a questionnaire and have an appointment with the gynecologist on June 19th.

I've read a lot about PCOS and it matches my symptoms really well. It doesn't have to be that, but I think it might be, and maybe I secretly hope it is too (sorry, I don't mean this the wrong way, I can imagine ladies with this condition would rather not have it) .

I would feel so bad if they find nothing 'abnormal' and send us home to keep trying on our own. I just feel like something isn't right. It's better if they find something that's relatively easy to fix than to keep going like we are now. It would take such a weight off my shoulders, although I'm already glad I was referred in time and not after a year of trying.

    Good luck! xKruimel

    @ Kruimel,

No worries, I totally get what you mean... With PCOS you can at least get pregnant with help, and if you're lucky like us the first time, spontaneously after 1.5 years and without cycles
    .
And if you have something slightly different, it might be a bit different yes........, but I have to say PCOS is also a deviation, a condition you know!, it's hormones from your brain that determine whether you ovulate or not, like with PCOS, but I think it can also go away again

Wishing you lots of luck with getting pregnant!!

    xxx

@DCB yes, I know that PCOS is a (disorder) syndrome, that's what I meant, and all other fertility issues... Better that than nothing and it still hasn't worked out.
After 9 months, I'm really fed up with it. Something that should be so fun and special has already become a big disaster for us.

    Thanks for your replies!

I hope I get medication right away so I can really feel like I'm starting. These weeks and months just fly by. And it feels like all sorts of opportunities are passing me by.

Crumb: I totally understand you. My gut also told me something wasn't right, and I'd read about PCOS before and found a lot of similarities. So I'm glad I was referred quickly. And hopefully, it can be resolved. I have almost all the symptoms, so it's pretty certain that blood tests will confirm it.

It was indeed something nice and pleasant. I try not to dwell on it too much, but it's so hard when you're going through the hospital and have to wait weeks for the next step or answer.

Good luck to everyone trying to conceive. Hopefully, it happens quickly for you too!

    @ Kruimel,

Yeah, I believe that, but don't lose hope!!

@123aap123, I'm starting Provera (to induce a period) followed by Clomid! Unfortunately, it can only start mid-July.. PCOS hasn't been diagnosed, the internal ultrasound showed nothing at all, but I still need to have blood drawn.. I'm already very happy that something is being done. I hope the same for you, and that it goes quickly! Good luck tomorrow! Keep me posted?

Crumb: thanks for your message, I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow. I'm just afraid that nothing will be done again. The hospital is also going to be closed for 3 weeks in July. I hope I won't have to wait for weeks again I really want to have a chance to have a baby. I hope they proceed the same way as with you. I'll send you a message tomorrow to let you know how it went.

Just replied on my phone haha so can't log in

My house is also closing in July! So I can only start later. Very annoying, but luckily I'm going on vacation for the first 3 weeks of July, so I have a distraction. Hope you also have something to keep you busy if it's only after this period for you too.

Good luck, girl, and I think you'll definitely get pregnant. Just ask them, then they can always try or say why not.
Especially since you almost certainly have PCOS, they'll definitely do everything they can to help you!

    Let me know
