I stopped the pill 4 years ago... Since then, irregular cycles... I'm getting a bit tired of it... My cycle varies from 28 to 49 days... Now I'm tracking my temperature 5 months after I saw the doctor... And still nothing... Now I'm waiting for my period... Last month I got it on day 33, now I'm on day 45 and still nothing... So emotional!!! Quick to get irritated pffff, sometimes I feel so worthless that I don't understand my own body....

    Hi Ilona,
That's really frustrating! I myself took a year to ovulate (first time!) and then another 3 months of irregular cycles. Then 3 cycles were fairly regular and on the 3rd I got pregnant and now have a 13-week-old daughter. What I'm trying to say is that getting pregnant isn't impossible with irregular cycles! But it does seem like it's taking a really long time for you! Can't you be referred to a gynecologist?

I did cycle monitoring myself, with a woman who knows everything about ovulation etc. You go at her pace and she tracks your fertile days exactly. If you're interested, send me a quick PM! I was pregnant within 3 tries

    Best, Joy
  3. Hoi baby love.... Hoop d Guest #23

Hi. I myself have the problem of irregular cycles and it's really annoying. I've never used the pill but I also want to get pregnant but it's not working!!! And what does cycle mean if I'm allowed to know that?

    Hey joy...
Thanks for replying to my message. Never knew there was someone like that who helps you find your most fertile day. I'm very curious about it... I read in your earlier posts about white discharge (sorry) that it changes, but I only have no issues with it during the first week after my period. After that, for the rest of the time, including my luteal phase, I can't draw any conclusions.

    Hi Sky!

This is indeed an old thread, over 2 years old, but that doesn't matter, threads don't expire here..

I understand that you feel incredibly powerless, 2 years ago I was in exactly the same position.
Your cycles also seem anything but normal and especially given your age, you don't expect this!

I advise you to keep track of your temperature for about a month or so and then take that temperature chart to your GP. If no clear ovulation is visible, insist on being referred to the fertility department.

Your story seems similar to mine (as you may have read above) and I couldn't get pregnant without help, I have PCOS. I was only 21 back then.
(By now I've had a beautiful daughter, took 1.5 years in the hospital and now we're back in the hospital working on a 2nd - so it is possible, stay strong!!!)
    Xx

Hey crumbs! Thanks for your reply, I read it and don't get me wrong, but it feels good to hear that I'm not alone, you know.. Well, at the gynecologist they did an internal ultrasound and she told me I don't have PCOS, she could see that from my ovaries and also because I've already had short cycles by now... Pff it's all so varied..

I'm on the third day of bleeding today, the first day was still quite okay, the second day already a bit less and in the evening it suddenly stopped.. Today I used 2 panty liners again and now only when wiping.. ah it's enough to drive you crazy!

Congratulations by the way with your first, and good luck with your second! Greetings

Haha, I totally get you! It's always nice to read relatable stories

Anovulation can have many causes, PCOS being one of them. It's good that your cycles are getting shorter, but do you still find your periods weird? My doctor told me back then that the light bleeding I had shouldn't be counted as full periods... I only needed a few panty liners a day. Of course, I know this can vary for everyone!

You might want to read up on basal body temperature; I think it could help you!

    Thanks!

Okay, I'll definitely give it a try! Thanks in advance! And good luck!

By the way, I don't mean to lecture you or anything, as if I know everything haha. If it comes across like that, I just want to help!

    Good luck

Me again. The gynecologist I saw for the first time last week told me that my body triggered an ovulation on its own. After doing some research and looking around online, I found out that if your cycle is longer than 40 days or shorter than 21 days, your body doesn't ovulate and it's a withdrawal bleed. During all the time I've been trying to conceive my first baby without the pill, I've only ovulated once. The gynecologist didn't tell me this, but I could deduce it from my story about those weird periods. I'm deeply disappointed that the gynecologist didn't take me seriously. I'm urgently making an appointment with a new gynecologist and we'll see what she says!

    Greetings

I also have a very irregular cycle. The longest are around 120 days and the shortest 39. I recently started using wheat germ oil. Not capsules, but straight from the bottle, two sips a day. (super rancid, so have a glass of water ready next to it) And maybe it was coincidence, but this cycle on day 15 I ovulated and this month I'm coming in at 31 to 32 days.
Wheat germ oil is mostly vitamin E and is also supposed to be good for building up cervical mucus. Maybe worth trying for you guys

    Hi!
I'm dealing with a similar issue. I stopped the pill in January and had a regular cycle ever since. But in August, September, and October, I didn't get my period. I went to the gynecologist and apparently had cysts on my ovaries and hadn't ovulated yet. I had to take Utrogestan to induce ovulation, which worked. My last period was on November 3rd. Now it's day 30, and still no period... We've been trying really hard... And yesterday I had a little bit of brownish discharge. I have very sensitive breasts and a bloated belly. I took a test this morning, but it was negative.... I hope my period doesn't stay away for another 3 months... We really want a second baby...

Is it true that you don't ovulate if you have a long cycle? I had a 72-day cycle and got a positive ovulation test on day 55, and my period came 17 days later on day 72. So I assume I did ovulate. The next cycle I was pregnant, and the positive ovulation test was on day 20. So suddenly it was much shorter... I tested positive on day 35.

Ooh, I just heard some really good things about wheat germ and it really seemed to work for me. But it might indeed depend on your specific issue.
  15. kruimel #35

Totally, flipje, I've used it too!
But through ultrasounds, I know that my BMS gets very thick quickly, and wheat germ makes it too thick!
Glad it worked for you, congratulations!
  16. flipje #36

Well, good to know for next time????

I’ve been using TCO for over a year now, and I’ve had absolutely no issues with a thick BMS, so that’s not always true... It works one way for some and another way for others, so don’t rely on just one story... I was fully monitored, and my BMS was always perfect, between 11 and 14 mm, so it was great.
  18. flipje #38

I only just started using it after trying for a long time to get pregnant, and for the first time, I had a cycle that wasn’t longer than 43 days (egg even around day 14) and got pregnant right away.
Maybe coincidence, maybe not. I also had low B12 levels and recently started getting injections for it. Low B12 can also cause menstrual/fertility issues. The reference values doctors use are outdated. Look into it. Many women in the Netherlands have a deficiency.
  19. kruimel #39

Mavanmi, that's why I also say; "can have adverse effects"
  20. kruimel #40

By the way, some gynecologists already consider a BMS of 14mm to be "too thick"...
