18 weeks pregnant and feeling down in the dumps at times

Hi everyone!
I need to get something off my chest. I'm 18 weeks pregnant now and super happy with our first baby! But since yesterday, I've been lying in bed. I feel awful, like crying, and I have no idea why? I don't feel like doing anything, and even my partner doesn't know what to do. I'm really frustrated because I don't want to feel this way at all, and I don't know where this sudden change is coming from. I guess it's the hormones... Do you have any tips on how to deal with this, or do you recognize something similar?

Long live the hormones!! Yes girls, this really is part of it. Your body changes very quickly in a short time, and so does your hormone balance. This can cause really intense mood swings and can be very unpleasant. Every pregnant woman experiences this to a greater or lesser extent, and it really does go away! If it feels like it's lasting too long, I'd suggest talking to your midwife or maybe even a psychologist. Maybe the pregnancy is causing some anxieties or bringing up things from the past that you're struggling with; it's better to deal with them now than to carry them around until your baby arrives! Good luck!!

    Hi Iza,

Thanks for your message! It's nice to know I'm not alone...
Thankfully, I'm already feeling a lot better, let's just hope it stays that way. It's not always the pink cloud everyone talks about, but fortunately, it dominates most of the time :-)!

Oh yes.. it really does belong to pregnancy, for sure.
Sometimes I also have one of those rotten days!!
Not because you're not happy, but it just comes...

I hate that, seems really annoying. I was on a pink cloud the whole pregnancy, but I had no desire for contact with other people at all. I just wanted to be with my man. I felt more in love with him than ever before. I got butterflies in my stomach again. It felt so special to me to carry our baby.

I was also really spoiled by him. He did the laundry, he made the food, he always did it anyway. He vacuumed and cleaned. I wasn't allowed to do anything in the house anymore; he took care of that because he was too afraid that I would get tired, and that that would then be bad for the pregnancy. He really cooked everything I asked for. He believed that you had to give your pregnant wife everything she craved, otherwise the baby would get sick. Just a little advice from me: try to worry or think about depression as little as possible, because babies in the womb pick up on all your depressive feelings.
