crying time

Hi,

I’m hoping to find some advice here because I’m on the verge of despair.

My little boy is almost six months old now, and every evening between 5:30 and 7:00 PM he has his crying hour. We’ve tried everything—letting him lie down, soothing him with a pacifier, turning on his phone—nothing helps. He does smile back when we pick him up and lay him on his play mat, but we’d have to be with him constantly.

I’m hoping to get some help here because, unexpectedly, I’m pregnant again. I hope our second little one won’t have to go through this too.

Best wishes

    Hi Mieke,

Unfortunately, this is part of the deal and I think it's the result of a little jump, which she'll probably do a lot in the first year and a half. You'd best just go along with it, because resisting takes more energy And yes, your second one will have this too Nothing to worry about though, it usually passes just as quickly as it comes. Good luck!

    Hi Mieke,
our girl is almost 7 weeks old now, and she's already had her evening fussiness for a whole week, from around 6:30 to 8 PM. Here too, nothing helps but picking her up and keeping her busy. Once it's 8 PM, she's so done that she gets her last feed of the day, goes into her crib, and then sleeps until 4 AM...
Unfortunately, it's just part of the deal, and like Iza says, I also think the little ones are going through a growth spurt. Your second little one will go through this too! Just go with the flow, and everything will be fine.
Enjoy it, because before you know it, your second little one will be here, and they'll both be big already!

    Love and good luck!!

Hi! My little one, 10 weeks old, has been struggling with this for about a week too. It's really exhausting, and I feel like nothing helps either. I've noticed today that she's asking for food more often and with less time in between, so I'm hoping it's just another growth spurt and that things will settle down soon. Before this, she was such an exemplary baby

Yeah, that can be tricky sometimes, right!

I'm sometimes afraid I'll spoil our girl by giving in to it.
    She's truly an example baby,
sleeps through the night from 10pm to 8am!! (4 months)

But around 8pm she does want to fuss, and indeed when she's picked up she has a smile from left to right!!. "Haha Yes I got her!!"
What I do then is make sure I have that hour free for her,
we sit cozy on the couch watching "Good Times, Bad Times".
As if she knows what time it is Haha!
I also need cuddle time with my husband, so why not her?
Sometimes I'm worried I shouldn't give in to it so much,
but ah, for that one hour I don't stress about it..

I completely agree with you, and before you know it, your little girl will be all grown up. Enjoy those cuddle moments now while you still can—time flies so fast. And don't forget, it's perfectly fine to give your little one too much attention. There's no such thing as "too much" attention for a baby. A young child really needs lots of cuddles and affection from their parents. It gives them a sense of security and reassurance that you're always there for them.
