baby 3 months feeding

Hi everyone, my little girl is now 3 months old and weighs 6.4 kg. According to the CB (Child Health Clinic), she's a bit heavy, and they suggested reducing her formula by one scoop and thickening it with carob powder. She's now drinking 160 ml of water with 4 scoops plus a bit of carob powder, 5 times a day. For her last feed at midnight, I always have to wake her up, but they just said to let her sleep. I've tried that, and she indeed sleeps from 9 PM to around 7:30 AM. But the question is, does she now need one less scoop and one less bottle??????? They do say to trust your instincts... well, that person has completely confused me... I don't mind giving her 4 bottles, but then I'd like to give her more food, like 180 ml with 5 scoops.. I'd love to hear some opinions...

When your baby sleeps through these feeds, they’re getting enough, so I wouldn’t give more if they’re doing well and already on the heavier side. When they get hungrier, they’ll let you know again!

    Hi Linam,

If they're sleeping through the night, just leave it as is.

Be careful with psyllium husk? I keep hearing stories about babies getting constipated and not being able to poop. But maybe it works out fine for you guys.

    Best, Dani

If your girl keeps sleeping through, I’d just leave it as is and stick with those bottles..that’s a sign she’s getting enough and as Iza already pointed out, if your girl doesn’t get enough anymore, she’ll definitely let you know herself!

    Love

Hi, my daughter is also 3 months old and weighs about 6.5 kg, and at the child health center they say she's growing perfectly fine, no rickets and whatever else... Sorry but it feels a bit strange. I personally think that maternal instinct and the baby's own feelings are very important to listen to. Babies will naturally lose weight once they start walking anyway. In our case, the baby herself indicates how much she eats... one day it's only 350 ml and the next day 900 ml. She smiles and does what babies do at three months... She's healthy, we're healthy! Greetings

    Hey Dani,

I read your reply too late.. she was indeed quite backed up... I've also stopped with the johannesmeel... she had no bowel movement for 6 days... then some loose stools and small poop.. now she poops every 3 days.. I'd rather have a poopy diaper every day but well, no more johannesmeel for us..!!! And I'd advise everyone against it too!!! Every baby is different of course and there are surely babies who have no trouble with it, but I wouldn't take that risk at all... I started with 1 scoop... if you're forced to start with it, I'd start with a scoop of less than half and then build up slowly... because before you know it, they're backed up!!

In my opinion, I don't think my daughter is chubby either... but that woman from the CB wasn't satisfied and started talking about the future, blah blah blah... I actually think you should be more careful with those little ones and candy and chocolate!! And not with milk, but okay... just in case, I've been giving her a bit less food.. overall she's doing well though.. at the CB they always make me feel insecure, I'd rather never go there again.. she let my daughter lie on her tummy for 2 seconds and immediately said, well, you can see she's not used to lying on her tummy.. you should do that more often.. stupid, you can't just decide that in a flash... and the physio says the opposite, you'd say she's older because she can do so much.. well, you know your child best and shouldn't let other people get to you, but you assume they know what they're talking about and listen to them.. so from now on, definitely not anymore
