Hi everyone,

I’ve been away for a while but I’m back. We’ve been through turbulent times. We’ve had 5 failed IUIs and have just started on attempt 6. The last one.
After this, we’ll be eligible for IVF.
It’s been intense. I responded well to Puregon, less so to Pregnyl, but overall it was manageable. Emotionally, it’s been really heavy at times. It’s tough with a husband who is very down-to-earth and reacts with: “Well, we still have a beautiful daughter, and if it doesn’t want to happen anymore, well, too bad.” I find that harder to deal with. Of course, we have a wonderful daughter whom we enjoy immensely, and I know there are women who don’t have any children at all, but that doesn’t make my longing for a child any less. Or is it something I’m not allowed to desire? Most women know this longing, that primal urge.
The realization that it might not be meant for us anymore hurts so much. My gut tells me it’s not going to work out anymore. I’m devastated... I’m only 37.
Even though we’re going for IVF now, I don’t have a good feeling about it, maybe pessimistic, but that’s how I feel. My man says it’s the hormones making me insecure. Who knows this feeling of powerlessness and failure?

Hey coothe, what a heavy story! But of course you can wish and long for a 2nd baby... I admire your courage and endurance. After our 3rd IUI, we stopped because our relationship was on the verge of breaking, and 2 years after my last IUI, we got pregnant spontaneously the natural way.. I'm 27 and this is our first baby.

I don't know that feeling of powerlessness, but I do know your hormones! I reacted strongly to the Pregnyl shot, very much so, with mood swings all over the place, and I was told that we should have sex that same evening after the insemination to boost your own love hormones between each other... to increase the chances of conception... I thought it was just a quarter of an hour, should stay lying down and then go home normally... but with pain symptoms! My belly hurt a lot after each insemination... I don't know if this is also the case for you/was?

Anyway, welcome, and let your heart out! Love, maja
