Hi Belly*dancer, my GP referred me to the OB-GYN because we've been trying for a year. I know my husband will also need to have his sperm tested, but he won't be keen on it (knowing him). Even though we both really want this baby. He thinks the nasal drops are bad enough, let alone a sperm test. I hear on the forum that some men do participate willingly but most are reluctant. I think it's not because your friend isn't ready yet. Imagine if it turns out his sperm isn't okay. That's a big blow for men. Maybe it's an idea to do a home fertility test for men?
Yes, you can have sex on Friday and Monday, as they advise having intercourse every other day or so during the fertile period. Good luck and don't stress too much!
    Greetings,

Hmm, don't take it too literally when your OB says your ovulation is coming on Sunday.
I had a lady in my care and her OB also said ovulation that day. I went with my own idea and came to the conclusion that ovulation was 8 days!!! later.
I of course had her keep on having sex and she is now pregnant with a boy.

After the dating scan, the due date came out exactly on my calculated date... so 8 days later according to the OB's calculation back then.

Make sure you keep on having sex every other day for at least a week so that you definitely have some sessions that count.
It's a pity if you wait and miss out because you stop too soon. Every 1 or 2 days should do it... then you'll have 3 or 4 sessions in a week and your husband should be able to keep up with that.

    Good luck

    Hey Sophia,
I do get the feeling it's about the male ego that he doesn't like it all, and I totally understand . I wouldn't exactly jump for joy either if I had to take hormones if it came to that.
With the Easter weekend coming up, I'll have to do a pregnancy test if my period hasn't started yet, so let's hope it turns out positive!
Yeah, that's true, I thought so too, but wasn't sure.
Wishing you both lots of success too! It would be great if we could share the good news together .

Samantha80, you should become an OB-GYN yourself! It's like you're a clairvoyant . But then I know I should keep that in mind.
My boyfriend doesn't mind the DIY stuff at all, he's more involved with the plumbing, but he manages to get through it.
I'm definitely not going to just wait and see, so I'll check every two days, putting in some hard work for a good cause!

Thank you so much! You're a big support!

Self-exploration teaches you a lot, of course .. Then I should also dig into how the cycle works myself, maybe I'll get as far as you ..

I talked to my boyfriend again yesterday and he said he's willing to do it all, but he'd rather not be seen with "the jar" and that I should take it to the lab myself.. So I'm already very happy about that!

    Greetings

I've already been doing research since 2009, so it won't be done anytime soon but who knows

So glad your little guy is willing to do this Good thing. Usually, the ladies bring it to the lab hihi... can you still give a hand

Well, you'll be almost a pro then .

I'm really happy about that! Haha, but I guess he won't want to do it .

    Ovu test was negative...
Do ovu tests always tell the truth or...?
  9. Anonymous #29

I never rely on ovulation tests... I find them too unreliable to be sure. They do work, but they often show the peak way too early, and ovulation is almost never in the 36 hours after a positive test, but later (and sometimes much later).

It's also possible that you test positive multiple times in one cycle, but how that works... is a bit weird, hehe.
You usually need to use ovulation tests for a few days in a row (around 3 PM or so) to compare them. If the line is visible and becomes more and more visible over the days, it's on its way to the peak day.

How long have your cycles been in the last few rounds? Then I can make a guess (if it matches those rounds) when you can start using ovulation tests.

    That gives the people courage
I don't have much good info for you yet..
I stopped the pill on December 20th (just finished the pack) and then had my period for 4 days (still the withdrawal bleed from the pill) and then only got my period again on February 27th (a 69-day cycle) and now I'm on my 2nd cycle. I had the feeling that I ovulated last Tue/Wed. I got period-like cramps on Tuesday afternoon around 2pm and they lasted until about 11am Wednesday morning. Wednesday morning I had a lot of white flakes in my urine..
Also, I want to take my temperature every day starting from my next cycle. I've done it a few times and I was often just under 36°C, this morning I had 36.7.

    Greetings

@Belly Dancer, it's great that you talked it over with your husband, at least now you know how things stand. Men sometimes still associate their fertility with their masculinity. I can totally understand that it might feel awkward to carry around such a jar—after all, everyone knows what you've just done with it.
What you could do is express your appreciation that he's willing to do this, and maybe even go along with him to support him? Good luck!
  12. Belly*dancer started this #32

@Mirjam, you can indeed achieve a lot by talking, but it remains a rather difficult topic.
I've definitely let him know how much I appreciate that he wants to do all this for me, for us. That gives me the certainty that he really wants a baby from us together. I'll definitely go along with him, I always find it nice that he makes time to go to the gynecologist with me.
    Thank you!

@Belly Dancer, it's obviously tough that you're going through this, but I actually find it quite beautiful how you describe it. You now know what you can count on in each other—you're there for each other and support one another even in tough times. Who knows, maybe this will make your relationship even stronger. Seems like a great foundation to start a family! The rest will fall into place.

Tracking your temperature is handy, indeed. You know afterward roughly which day the ovulation was. You can also check www.thermo-meters.nl for more info on temperature tracking and other useful tips. Who knows, it might help.

Judging by that, you can assume the ovulation happened with that last temperature. So your period will probably be around the 28th, I think

@Mirjam, I do indeed feel that our relationship has become closer and stronger in the last few months. Which is nice. But it's really not nice to go through this. Meanwhile, you hear everywhere from family and friends that they are pregnant, and that doesn't make it any better. I'm super happy for them, but it's quite hard. My boyfriend tells me I have to keep quiet about it to everyone, only my best friend knows, but she is also pregnant now. But I need good conversations with other people too, I don't know why, but talking helps me a lot I think.

Samantha80, I can't really count my last period, it was just a little brown discharge for 3 days. So my cycle is now 81 days and my temp always fluctuates between 36.3 and 36.6. I did an ovulation test a few times and once it colored a very tiny bit, so it could also be that the test wasn't good. But the problem is that my boyfriend and I live together but with his parents. So I can't test whenever I want, because they are almost constantly around here. I'm not sure anymore. The gynecologist said I should do a pregnancy test during Easter weekend, if this is negative I have to start with Duphaston. But if I don't know when my ovulation was, it could also be that it's too early to do a pregnancy test. Should I wait an extra week to test? Do you maybe have more experience with this? Greetings

Hmm, it's better to take your temperature every day so you can clearly see what's going on. That's more helpful and clearer than guessing and speculating.

So it's better to start taking your temperature every day. Also keep an eye on your mucus discharge. That indicates when ovulation is coming.
Creamy, crumbly discharge isn't fertile... you get that before ovulation (well before, definitely) and after ovulation until your period.

81 days is quite long... the longest I had was 82 days but I tested positive on day 83 (ovulation was on day 69) so it's possible you're past ovulation but you can only know that by tracking your temperature if you know your pre-ovulation temps.

    Thanks Samantha!!
How many days before your expected period does your temperature drop?
So far, my temp has been stable at 36.6/36.7. On Wednesday, March 28th, is my expected period for a 28-day cycle.
  18. Evelien #38

    Sorry, Wednesday is the 27th
  19. Anonymous #39

For most ladies, the temperature drops on the day of the period starts. So if you have a low temp, you can expect your period that day.

But for some ladies, the temp doesn't drop until day 2 or 3 after the period starts... but that's a small group.

So keep that temp high for sure until day 14 after ovulation

oh wow, what patience we ladies have to have, right?
    Thanx again for your help!

Are you actually also working on a little one yourself??
