Brown period

Don't worry too much either. I often have brownish periods, sometimes even so dark that it looks black. They say that's old blood. The bright red should still come for you; I don't know which day of your cycle you're on now. For me, it starts dark and ends dark. As for your ovulation, that will happen too, don't worry.

A friend of mine had the same experience. Her GP's advice: 'If your next period is completely normal, there's nothing to worry about.' Sometimes it just needs a little time to get back on track.

Thanks, ladies! 5 days of irregularity behind me, 5 days of brown...
It took 69 days for it to come...
Hope my cycle will be normal from now on!

    Hi hi

I stopped the pill 6 months ago and have only had brown blood/discharge so far.
You read everywhere that you only really get your period if you lose bright red blood for at least 2 days... Which means I haven't had a real period in 6 months. I'm going to ask my GP about this next week.. We can keep trying until we weigh ourselves, but if I'm not ovulating it's pointless of course
My first cycle also lasted exactly 69 days by the way.

#Evelien have you already had a 'normal' period by now? And how is your cycle now? X

    Hi Crumb,

Well, I'll cheer you up a bit then.
My 1st cycle was 69 days long and had 5 days of brown spotting.
And my 2nd didn't come, because I'm pregnant now!
So I'd keep busy if I were you!
I'd advise you to track your temperature.
That way you'll also give your doctor more insight into your cycle.
    Hang in there!

    Aaah, what a relief, congratulations!
I’m already keeping track of my temperature but nothing’s coming out of it.
My temp keeps shooting up and down multiple times.
Ovulation tests don’t seem useful, I think. I’m sooo irregular that I don’t even know when I should be testing.
    Enjoy it, girl x

    Thanks!
    Good luck!
I'm curious what the GP is going to say to you.

    Has anyone experienced this?
I'm on CD28 today (should get my period tomorrow).

On CD26 I lost a bit of pinkish mucus when wiping, then nothing more... my mucus just kept increasing!
And now on CD28 I'm spotting light brown blood with still clear white mucus..
It's probably best to wait until tomorrow I guess... but does anyone recognize those two things together?
    For me it's completely new.

Have you already felt/noticed ovulation using temperature tracking or an ovulation test? Because it sounds like ovulation to me!! And it could also be implantation or just the start of your period (or anything else that could be going on, hehe). I always feel that before my period starts too.
  10. Light22 #11

Yeah, I felt my ovulation around CD 13-14.
And indeed, my period came, so exactly on CD28.
    Back to round 2 then!

    Thanks for your reply, Kruimel!

    Hi ladies,

I indeed have the same problem. I had my IUD removed last year. I had it for a total of 10 years. So far, I haven't been pregnant yet. My period consists of one day of dark brown to black IUD bleeding without mucus. After that day, I lose nothing more. The gynecologist said 2 months ago that I'm just in one cycle and could therefore get pregnant. But in my opinion, that doesn't work if I don't have clear red bleeding, and that hasn't been the case for 10 years, not because of the IUD, and also not for the last 10 months.

    Greetings

    Hi Crumb,

You too... I get that you find it really frustrating. I did go to the OB/GYN, actually. I insisted on it myself. My GP-in-training said I should be glad I’m part of the small group of women who barely or don’t ovulate at all. The OB/GYN only did an ultrasound and had me draw blood to check my hormone levels. He said I’m in a cycle and that everything should be coming along normally. I did try ovulation test strips, but the OB/GYN told me I was crazy and said I should have intercourse every time around the middle of my cycle plus one day. That would give me a good chance. So I’ve been trying that since my first OB/GYN visit back in December. Up until now, we haven’t succeeded. So here’s to crossing our fingers and hoping this month is the one, even though I can already feel another disappointment looming. xxxx

    Hi Bloem1983.
If you'll have been at it for a year come July, I'd really go back to the GP right away and insist they do something for you immediately.
I'm going next week. I'm curious, hope I can also get referred straight away.
I'm tracking my temp but I can't really do anything with it, because with the constant bleeding I don't know where I am in my cycle either.
And doing chores every 1 or 2 days hasn't yielded any results so far.

    Hey Kruimel,

Yes girl, you should definitely do that!!!! I have a second opinion at Geertgen at the end of this month and hope they can help us more. Because indeed, we do all the renovations with all our love, but it would also be great to see results. Lots of luck and cheer up for you guys because nowadays they don't refer you quickly. I'll keep an eye on the forum and hope you get positive results soon. xxxx
  15. kruimel #16

I was referred last year because I stopped getting my period (I was still on the pill back then). No cause was found, and it’s still the same now. Hope I can build on that, I guess. Curious to hear.
Good luck to you too, girl!

Thanks Kruimel, you'll hear about it. If it's good, I have to be on sick leave on May 20th, so I'm curious. A week later I'm going for a second opinion, so we'll see. It would be nice if I can cancel that appointment hihi ;-) xxx

I hope it works out for you guys!
    We'll keep each other posted

    Hi,

I was supposed to get my period a few days ago and I think I did, but I only have brown/dark blood! I am NOT pregnant and I'm 15 years old. I really don't know what's going on. This is the first time I've ever gotten brown blood. What could it be and should I worry about it? :/

    Please, I need advice.

    Greetings,

    Hey

I'm a girl almost 20 and I'm on the pill. I was in my pill-free week. I was supposed to restart the pill on Thursday but forgot and only realized on Saturday, and I just didn't take any more pills. Normally I should get my period by now, but I still haven't gotten it—just occasional dark spotting and no actual blood. I did have unprotected sex once. Could I be pregnant, or is this just because I stopped taking the pill?

    Thanks in advance
