Cystic fibrosis

The dad has a point because with cystic fibrosis, both parents are heterozygous carriers and have a 1 in 4 chance of having an affected child. So theoretically, if you don't have it, the chance that your child will also get it is very slim.

As far as I know (my cousin's daughter has it), your child can only get it if both of you are carriers. If your husband is a carrier and you're not, your baby could become a carrier too, but wouldn't get sick themselves.
