Hi ladies,

I'm just visiting as a guest here, I have another laptop and forgot my password.

But I wanted to let you know how I'm doing from here.

Yesterday we were about to go to the hospital for our appointment, I went to the toilet and saw bright red blood.
Called the hospital immediately, I had to go there and took my bag along.

Had CTG monitoring, lots of strong contractions, baby's heartbeat is fine!
I had already lost some fluid earlier, during the hospital visit last time they said it wasn't amniotic fluid.
Monday during the wedding I had few symptoms (until we got home, then I crashed), Tuesday more fluid loss and Wednesday I started using pads. Didn't call earlier because I had to go to the appointment anyway.

But well, the combination of strong contractions, bleeding (which is now thankfully over) and amniotic fluid loss (no ruptured membranes but probably a small tear somewhere) meant I couldn't go home.

Yesterday I got one injection for lung maturation, tonight another one and I have contraction suppressants.
Friday night the injections for lung maturation should have taken effect and the OB from yesterday told me that nowadays they don't always try to prevent labor but also listen to the baby and the mother's body.

VWP is not an option because it won't provide the relief I need + there's an opening because I have a tear in the membranes and I'm being closely monitored due to infection risk.

I'm sharing a room with another pregnant woman on the maternity ward, the pregnancy ward is completely full but I'll be transferred soon hopefully.

Well, that's it for now, going to eat (mandatory) and then rest (hard needed after max 3 hours of sleep last night and also so little yesterday).

Hope to receive an email with my login details soon because I wanted to follow Buikjesbende of course but that's not possible now unfortunately.

Kind regards and good luck to those who are also on the brink (because I can definitely relate to that now).

DANI

    Hi Dani,

That’s so annoying, report it right away with your suitcase, yikes! You must have been really scared seeing the blood.

What a blessing (in disguise) that you had fewer symptoms on your wedding day. That just had to be the way it was.

Hope they can move you to the maternity ward soon. It’s nice being among women who are also (still) pregnant. When I was in the hospital, things were a bit mixed up too. I didn’t always find that comfortable, so I understand you’d prefer it otherwise.

Well, enjoy your meal (I thought the lunches were nice, haha) and get some rest. You really need it, but you know that already

Now it’s getting really exciting for you too! Wishing you lots of strength, and if it happens soon, I wish you a very pleasant delivery!!!

    Love and big hugs,
    Anne

    Hi Dani,
Oh my, you must have been so startled! Luckily, you're now being closely monitored and so is your little one.
You should probably stay put for now, right?
    Are you holding up okay?
Rest well and try to catch up on some sleep.
    Wishing you lots of strength!!

    Love,
    Femke.

    Hey girl,
What a situation.. Did Otje still let you get married..
But I was already thinking with everything you described that it wouldn't be long..
Oh my, what a nasty situation that you're lying with sooooo many women.. Not good... But glad that you'll be transferred,...
Let us know if you can and tell us how you're doing..
Love Ju and until we hear from you, girl...

    Hi ladies,

What's funny, actually I wasn't really startled when I saw the blood.
I was glad that no more consultations were needed and I could just be admitted.
I was quite scared in the last days of being home alone when my waters would break. I had been told last week what could possibly happen to the baby, which I found absolutely terrifying.
Now that it has happened, there's immediate help available, so that's great.

Yes, typical, isn't it, that your body can just hold on until you reach your goal (like my wedding day for me), and then it's okay and your body just does what it needs to do.

I'm not really nervous either, maybe because it hasn't fully sunk in yet, and even then I thank my spirit and body, I can't change anything anyway!!!

I'll try to keep you updated,

    Kind regards, Dani

That's so nice to see how positive you remain!

I hope you get transferred soon!
Take it easy and lots of strength.

    Love, Mandy

    Hi there,

Well, today's positive side has been quite mixed with anxiety and tears.
I did sleep well though. Last night, my roommate left to give birth, and at 22:30 I got a new roommate who had just had a C-section.

Yesterday I had a slight fever and a rash, probably from the tocolytics or the injection.
Fortunately, it's a bit less now.

I was the first to see the doctor this morning. A lovely nurse came straight to me as soon as her shift started, apologized and told me she was very angry that no one had checked on me yesterday (if something had gone wrong, someone would have come, luckily).
She's really a sweetheart! Later she came by again to tell me that I had been called for the doctor so many times that he would definitely come!!

All the results (blood, urine, swabs) were good, luckily. I'm being monitored extra closely due to possible infection, since the tear from the amniotic fluid won't close up naturally.
I'm hardly losing any more amniotic fluid, but it's still being produced.
The tocolytics are doing their job, but I had my last dose this morning, so we'll have to wait and see what happens after tonight.

I lay there crying during the CTG scan this morning. The heart rate was a bit slower than average, but regular, and I could feel and see good movements.
I didn't need to worry, but well, when you're lying here alone, your mind does wander...

That lovely nurse from this morning came to finish the scan and naturally saw that I was crying. She came to sit with me for a moment, and I told her what was on my mind.
Eventually, it came down to how stressful it is now to find out if Otje has Down syndrome or not, and how severe it is.
She told me she has a son with Down syndrome, and we talked about it together for a bit.
It was really nice to be able to share that.

I'm on the urgent list for the maternity ward, but I think those ladies aren't ready yet, it's packed!!!
It's also quite funny because even though the doctor didn't come yesterday, I'm getting special attention because I'm actually on the wrong ward.
And extra info because there are students here who haven't been on the maternity ward yet.

Well, you're all up to date now.......

    Kind regards, Dani

    @ dear Dani,
it's really hard to bear what you're going through.
Hopefully your little one will wait a bit longer, because normally it's my turn first.
I'll keep following you, and if there's anything on your mind, just let it out.

We all support you here, ladies.

    Take care, girl.

    Love, Tamara

    Dear Dani,
Wow, girls, you must have been quite startled. I couldn’t reply earlier because I couldn’t log in—it was due to my own PC. So now I’m catching up on reading and suddenly see your message.
What I find really nice is that you were still able to get married and that you had few complaints that day. Girls, look at it positively; everything happened the way it was meant to.
Fortunately, you’re in good hands, and they’re keeping a close eye on you.
And it’s so nice to read that the nurse listened to your story and that you felt understood. It’s easy for someone else to talk, but when you’re in that uncertainty yourself, it’s hard. You’ve had quite a lot to endure, I’d say. But dear, you’re amazing, and I’m sure that once Otje sees the light of day, it’ll be love at first sight. Otje will end up in a very loving family. Well, I’ll keep an eye on you and keep you in my thoughts, girl. Stay strong and keep your chin up, okay?

    Love and hugs, Renate74

How close those emotions are to each other, huh? A laugh and a tear, pffff. Glad you're sleeping "well" though. Then you can handle everything a bit better than if you're also exhausted.

I remember so well how wonderful the care was on the maternity ward. All incredibly involved people who come to spoil you and have a chat with you. Because I had a fever, I had to be in a room alone. On the one hand, lots of privacy, but on the other, just "alone". And it's precisely at those moments when you feel alone that you're more inclined to think things over, and that can go really far sometimes....pfff!!!

Really glad you're being monitored so well. If there's anything they don't trust, they'll take action immediately. That's nice

Really nice that you could talk to the midwife about Down syndrome. Always nice to talk to someone who has been in the same "boat" or is in it, and with whom you can share your feelings.

Well, no sign of baby here yet... I think she has it too cozy in here. And looking outside, I can understand that too Although I was born when there was quite a lot of snow, haha. Last Tuesday we agreed with the midwife that if she hasn't "reported" by Tuesday, she'll come and strip me. They do that here at home because they think you'll feel more at ease that way. I'm very curious how it will go. And... as long as she's doing well in my belly, I'm fine with that. I'm now at 40+4 and as far as I understood, it would have to be very strange if it still took 2 weeks.

    Stay strong, girl!!!

    Love & big hug,
    Anne

    Hi everyone,

Anne, that's exciting but if she's sitting so comfortably in there, right? I can totally imagine it, being with mom!! A few more days for you then, good luck and strength, and enjoy it while you can, okay? I'm still enjoying the kicks and my belly too.

I moved to the maternity ward yesterday afternoon, so now I'm in my spot. It's a two-person room, but my roommate went home this morning, so I have the whole place to myself. It's actually quite nice to lie alone. You don't have to deal with anything, on the other hand, a chat is also nice, but for now, it's fine like this.

Yesterday, I had a rash on my body again, just like on the second night, probably from the medication, thankfully no signs of infection.

I feel much better than yesterday, slept poorly, but I just had a lovely nap for an hour and a half.

Ju: my man has good shoulders to cry on, so I took advantage of that yesterday!

I've dubbed myself a couveuse or little brooding hen, giving our little one some peace to grow well for a bit longer. Now Otje is already bigger than average, and next Tuesday we'll be 34 weeks, so we're almost at the end together, you and me.

Have a nice weekend everyone, enjoy your bellies and babies!!

    Kind regards, Dani

    @Dani,
That's really good, girl, because those tears need to come out.
Kisses to you and Otje and your men, and I'm thinking of you and your daughter.

    Love, Ju

    Hey Dani,
what do I have to do with you. I can totally understand that you're scared. But as I've said before, you're in good hands. I hope your little one still finds it cozy enough in your belly for a while longer.

I've sent positive energy your way.

Wishing you lots of strength and love.

    Love, Nynke

    Hi!

Yes, it's really exciting here Thanks for your well wishes... just a few more days to enjoy the pregnancy and then we'll have the little one, hehe.

It's nice that you're now on the maternity ward. And it's great to have the room to yourself now. After all the hustle and bustle, that's a relief. And if you're alone, you'll probably sleep a bit more... lovely! Hmm, the rash on your body is lessening, but it's good to know it's due to the medication and that there's no infection.

Crying is good... it helps get those toxins out of your system. And crying on your partner's shoulder is just the best

Good choice to give Otje the rest he needs so he can keep growing comfortably in your belly. The more rest you get, the better Otje can grow... all for a good cause!!!

    Take it easy, girl!!!

    Love,
    Anne
