Why is it no longer normal to stay home with your child nowadays??

This is also a dilemma for me. I’d really like to stay home with my little one. Nowadays, it’s practically abnormal. No one does that anymore. My husband isn’t exactly thrilled about it either. But I don’t want a stranger raising my child. My mom was a stay-at-home mom and was always there for me. Financially, the luxury stuff is out of the question. What I’m really worried about is missing out on social contact at work and adult conversations. For now, I’m thinking of taking part-time parental leave, so working half-time for 8 months. -

Hey, I also had my first baby a year ago. I'm home now too and get all the comments and questions about when I'm going back to work. Some people even think I'm lazy. I can assure you that running a household is a job in itself! It's seriously underestimated. It's really strange how people nowadays find it odd for a mom to stay home with her child... You also sometimes get the comment that they won't be social if they don't go to daycare. That's complete nonsense because that didn't even exist in the past, and I think we all turned out fine anyway... Plus, the time you actually have with your child when you go back to work is so little. I'd miss too much, I think. But like you said, everyone makes their own choice. It also costs a lot of money. Seriously eats into your salary. I'd rather do it with a bit less and always be there for my child. Nobody knows what someone else's situation is... everyone makes their own choice. I'd say don't let it bother you too much and enjoy your little angels because time flies so fast...
Greetings, Caro -

I've been home for over 13 years now, and let me tell you, working from home is harder than working outside.
Moms can sometimes be really mean to each other... You don't work? Does your kid go to daycare every day? Are you not breastfeeding? Does your child get apple juice? Is he still not walking?
There's always someone who has something to say... Just let them talk... You know what's best for your child, and that's what your choice is based on.
Enjoy it, because they grow up so fast! -

I also stopped working during my first pregnancy and I loved being home with my daughter. But it wasn't easier! I also get some comments sometimes... But they go in one ear and out the other. I don't even want to think about my kids spending 4 days at daycare and me taking them to grandma's on weekends, 'because I want to do my own thing too'.
But if someone else feels good about that, I'm not the one to say anything about it!
Now I'm working for half a year because I was offered a really nice project. My daughter was 15 months old then and I always said I wanted to stay home for the first year. But even though the job is very nice, I'm counting down the days. I miss the calm, the routine, the flexibility and the time with my child. And a tidy house! And I'm pregnant again, so even more reason to be home again.
It'll be tight financially, but we've decided that I'll stay home at least until she starts school. I'm really convinced that's best for my family! ? -

By now, my kids are a bit older, but when I decided to stop working, it seemed like the best choice for me and my now ex-husband. Unfortunately, the relationship didn't hold up, and I ended up with nothing. You become completely dependent on others for your livelihood. Of course, you want to enjoy your children as much as possible, but don't just throw away your independence. The reality is that many people don't stay together. You feel very small when you temporarily have to move back in with your parents and become dependent on social assistance.
