Ectopic pregnancy treatment

Hi! I currently have a pregnancy. Are there any ladies who have experience with methotrexate treatment? My gynecologist suggested it, and I'm really hesitant. My hCG levels are still low but rising, which is why they prefer to treat it.

    Hi Mamsie92,
I'm so sorry to hear it's an ectopic pregnancy and that you're going through this. I had 3 ectopic pregnancies last year, so unfortunately, I know exactly what you're talking about.

What would you like to know about the treatment? My first ectopic pregnancy was treated with surgery. My second one was treated with 1 MTX injection, and the third one started with a laparoscopy, then 1 MTX injection, and finally still required surgery to remove the embryo.
I didn't find the MTX injection itself too bad. The shot is given into a muscle, and it didn't hurt much. However, I did feel a bit nauseous for a few days afterward, as well as quite tired.
What's your HCG level now, and what symptoms are you experiencing?

Especially what does mtx do to you

MTX causes the pregnancy to be terminated. You won't notice much of it yourself. There are some side effects you might get from the injection, mainly gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea and nausea. Fatigue can also kick in, and you might get uterine cramps. The gynecologist will monitor your blood values to see if the pregnancy hormone is dropping adequately and whether a second injection might be needed.

Mamsie92, so sorry to hear about your loss. Sending you lots of strength.
Unfortunately, I’ve been through this too – I had 3 miscarriages, one of which was treated with mtx (methotrexate). I needed 2 injections of it, and the first one didn’t work.
From my experience, you can indeed feel nauseous and very tired.
Take good time for yourself, both physically and emotionally. It’s a painful blow that you need to process.
Wishing you lots of strength. And if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Hi, after 6 years of trying to conceive, I was finally pregnant, but unfortunately, it didn't go well. So recently I had MTX twice because the pregnancy couldn't be found. I had a lot of side effects and I'm still recovering from them. For 2 days I lost a lot of blood from my uterus, the size of a fist every half hour, which led to hospital admission. I was allowed to go home after a day, even though my hemoglobin was 6.3. My blood pressure and heart rate are okay though. I feel very weak, dizzy, can't see straight, nothing. I'm still losing blood clots, but luckily small ones. For me, this feels like hell. I'm very sad, etc.
