Dear expectant moms,

We've been trying to conceive for a while now and have already had two miscarriages. I'm now 12+3 weeks pregnant, and I haven't been truly happy yet. My health keeps working against me, and I'm scared for the baby because that's my top priority right now. It would be nice if I could get better too. I'm diabetic and have fibromyalgia, had Corona early in the pregnancy, and 7 weeks later developed a serious lung infection. I'm really struggling with this—I can't seem to get rid of the food cravings, and I feel completely exhausted all the time. Are there others who have experienced this or know someone who has, and still ended up having a healthy baby or got back on their feet? Any tips are welcome!

You’ve also had quite a bit of bad luck, seg! Here’s a somewhat similar story. I had two miscarriages before this pregnancy. Now at 15 weeks, I’ve only had nothing but trouble (just for me, nothing dangerous for the baby). One health setback after another. The latest news is that my kidneys seem to be giving out. Some women are simply not made to be pregnant, my OB-GYN told me.
So I haven’t been able to enjoy much either, but I’m cheering myself up by the fact that our daughter clearly isn’t affected by any of it! She’s doing super. Because of all the setbacks, the baby is also monitored extra often, so I’ve already had 7 good ultrasounds by now
It’s okay not to be able to enjoy the pregnancy! Unfortunately, it’s not a pink cloud for everyone.. I’m convinced that we’ll all forget this quickly in hindsight once our kids are born

    Be kind to yourself.

Let it wash over you. Right now, we're all just supposed to stay at home. Make yourself a cozy little nest.

Make smoothies, eat and drink whatever feels good and works for you. The baby will take what it needs. Sleep when you're tired. Take a walk around the neighborhood at regular times every day, even if it's just for 2 minutes.

Wishing you lots of strength. And acknowledge to yourself that it's a lot, too much. That your feelings are allowed to be there.
