Muscle cramps and a terrible feeling after sugar.

Hey everyone!
I'm almost 28 weeks pregnant now, and for a few weeks I've been dealing with constant, quite strong muscle twitches and a terrible tingling sensation all over my body. On top of that, I've also been feeling incredibly tired and/or nauseous quite often.

Don't ask how we came up with this, but I've gone completely sugar-free, and guess what? No more issues...
But oh no, if I even get a tiny amount of sugar in my system. Think of something like a small bread roll with sprinkles, an apple, or even a glass of milk. Half an hour later, it's back to square one. And if I don't get a single pinch of sugar, everything's fine...

Does anyone happen to recognize this or know why this could be happening?

I've already asked for a sugar test at the midwife's office, but because of my sick little boy, I can only pick up the form in two weeks...

    Nice!
I do recognize muscle cramps and nausea in waves, I had that too in previous pregnancies. But going completely sugar-free is almost impossible, right? Unfortunately, there's sugar in everything these days! I do know that sugar is extremely addictive, and that this is a serious problem in our society!
I'm a real chocolate junkie myself, so okay.... I'm addicted too

    Thanks, sis!

I’m not really a sweet tooth or anything, but during this pregnancy I do sometimes have a craving for something sweet. I’ve tried sugar-free substitutes, but the sweeteners they use give me pretty bad stomach issues...

I agree it’s really tough because sugar is hidden in things you wouldn’t expect. Just like a simple glass of milk—I’m not aware of any problem, but half an hour later I feel awful. Then I go read the label and think, oh my goodness!
So I really have to give up a lot of things I enjoy eating or drinking, and I do miss them. But the way I feel otherwise is a good motivation... and secretly I hope to be able to go back to it after the birth, hehe...

Hihi, by the way, I happened to just read about sugar-free chocolate bars, and they had some tasty flavors! But they also contain those sweeteners...
