Feeding times

Good afternoon,
I have a son who is almost 12 weeks old. I feed him on fixed times and this was going super well until recently. I offer bottles of 180+6 at 06:00, 10:00, 14:00, 18:00 and the last one after his bath at 22:00. Then he goes to bed between 22:30 and 22:45 and sleeps until I wake him up at 06:00. I do this so he goes along with our work rhythm. Now he is so tired in the morning that he keeps falling asleep and only drinks 100 and doesn't want any more. Besides, he wants to sleep after his bottle from 19:15 to 19:45 in the evening and is then full and starts screaming until I take him out. Then he's awake until 22:30 until he has his bottle. Now I wonder if there are people with the same problem and/or someone who has tips. His first bottle must be around 06:00 because I have to be at work at 19:30 in 1.5 weeks.. I was thinking about doing his bath earlier but then I'm afraid he will wake up much earlier than 6 o'clock..

I assume you have to be at work by 7:30? So he doesn’t wake up on his own in the morning? Then I wouldn’t worry too much about him waking up earlier. I’d try to give him another bottle around 9 pm and then straight to bed. I find it tricky because I could always work in 3-hour blocks, while you have 4-hour intervals between feeds. If you always want him to get his bottle at 6 am, you’d eventually need to aim to be done with the evening routine by 6 pm. That’s not really possible yet (he’s too young), but it gives you a goal to work towards.

Hi Anoniem, no, I have to leave for work at 07:30. And my little boy sometimes has a tendency to laugh a lot during his bottle and do other things, so I'm sometimes busy for 45 minutes just to get his bottle finished hahaha. Last night I gave him his bath half an hour earlier & he slept from 22:15 to 06:05 and woke up by himself now. But still, he only wants to drink 75 cc... So I guess I'll put him to bed earlier. It's weird that a baby has gone 8.5 hours since his last bottle and still isn't hungry...

Maybe he’s not drinking because he’s just woken up; some people need a bit of time before they want to drink. Especially if they’ve been woken up.

Yeah, that could work too, indeed...

You can come up with a nice schedule, but a baby can't read a clock and follows their instincts. Can't you adjust a bit more to him, since I assume he's not just falling behind when you go to work. So, can't the babysitter give him the bottle?

Yeah, that's right—he goes to the babysitter for 3 days. And sure, I can adjust more to him. But then he'll want a bottle at 7:00 AM while he has to be at the babysitter's at 7:30 AM, and I'll end up sitting there for half an hour with a crying baby. So I thought maybe there are other people with tips that could help..
