Pregnant at 38 or at a later age

Hi everyone. I'm a proud mom of three boys and a little princess. My kids are quite different ages, and I'm now pregnant with the fifth! I'm 38. I was wondering if there are other moms who also got pregnant with their first, second, third... at a so-called later age. How do you feel, etc.? According to the midwife, I can just give birth at home, I didn't fall into a risk category because I'm under 40. But I should also mention that we do want to have a blood test done. Besides that, there is one concern, and that is whether the placenta will still function well enough at the end to provide the little one with all the nutrients. I also had some blood in my uterus, which is expected to resolve itself. Are you guys nauseous? I sometimes have a small wave of nausea, but it's manageable. With my boys, I was sick for months, and with my daughter, hardly at all. Now again, hardly at all. I'm getting a due date ultrasound this Thursday, and then we'll know the exact due date. I'd love to hear from moms who are also a bit older, but also those whose due date is also in April 2020. Lots of love from a proud mom!

Hi, I'm 37..pregnant with my 2nd. By the way, my due date is end of March.
I also had that blood in the uterus, but it was resolved at 10 weeks. Probably absorbed into my body, because I didn't have any bleeding.
Because of my age, I did have the niptest done. I'm curious what it's going to be, because with my boy I was indeed quite nauseous in the first few weeks and had some discomfort.
Now I only had that after 12 weeks.

I hope to be able to chat here soon. I'm 36. My son is 13, and I'm expecting with my new partner (for him, biologically the first).

Hi Mamas. So nice to hear that you're also 36 weeks pregnant! The blood in my uterus is gone. We had a beautiful ultrasound today; I'm exactly 13 weeks and 1 day. The little one is doing super well. How are you doing? Love

    Hi Natasja. That's super!
Are you experiencing any discomfort? It must be exciting for your partner too.

Yeah, isn't it insane that my gynecologist told me that getting pregnant is like winning a lottery ticket, and I'd rather win that than actually get pregnant. After I'd had an amniotic fluid echo. And she told me that coldly, along with a student, without even asking for my permission. That was back in September 2017. And how sad I was. But anyway, that's all in the past now. But what I want to say is: don't let your age discourage you if you want children I wish you a very beautiful pregnancy

Had my third baby last year at 39, four kids in total. I always planned to give birth at home, and I did for all three of my kids. I really liked that. But since my two oldest are now 16 and 13, I wondered if I could just give birth at home again. No problem. I also find it quite different being a mom at an older age. I experience everything more consciously, I have more patience, and the plus is that the baby's brothers and sisters can help out now. Ideal!

    Hi!
I notice among my peers that they say things like: "I wouldn't want to be a mother anymore at this age." I hear sayings like that often. Or that they shouldn't even think about going back to changing diapers.. and: "I'm glad I have teenagers now, and they'll be out of the house in a few years." It feels weird to me to hear that around me. My oldest son will be 20 soon, he's at college, and still lives at home. A teenager doesn't automatically mean they're gone by 18, I think.. my second son is almost 12 and my youngest son is almost 9. My daughter will turn 5 in April. They're not all little anymore, which is why we also think it's actually nice this way. My mother was also 39 when my youngest sister was born. She said she still felt very young then and that she handled it well. Sometimes the reactions of others make me doubt. Does anyone recognize this feeling?

I can kind of relate. I’d have preferred to become a mom at a younger age, but it didn’t work out that way. I’d also have liked to do everything with my partner, but that didn’t happen either. Still, I’m glad I got to become a mom again and am now a mom again. I think I’d have handled it differently if I’d been younger. Actually, I’m pretty sure about that, and I’m actually glad I didn’t become a mom at 22, even though I saw it differently back then.

But yeah, you have to decide for yourself what feels right for you. I think if I’d had kids 10 years earlier, I wouldn’t do it now. But now I wonder—if I’d found a nice guy, would I even want another kid around 40?

Life rarely goes exactly as we plan it. When I look at my eldest son now, he’s really enjoying life. In his free time, he goes out, eats out, you name it. At his age, I was already a mom, and looking back, maybe I should have waited a bit longer to discover myself and life more. I was 18 and suddenly expected to be an adult overnight. Well, that’s what was expected. But you really aren’t mature in every way at that age.

I had a lot to learn, and it wasn’t until eight years later that I consciously became a mom again. What I notice now during this pregnancy is that I can’t move mountains like I could with the other kids—now it’s more like hills. And sometimes I tell myself, “Old woman, lol, you’re not 18 anymore.” I’m 15 weeks pregnant on Tuesday, and overall, I feel great. No nausea or vomiting at all. Occasionally, I feel a bit tired, but otherwise, I do everything just like before, just at a slightly slower pace. I also find out the gender on Tuesday, which I’m excited about. Although I’ve been dreaming almost daily about having a beautiful son.

Does anyone else have dreams about the baby’s gender?
