Semen analysis

JasmijnGuest ·
I  submitted a sample for semen analysis this morning. I was quite surprised by how little "material" was actually in the cup. Is that normal? Haha, maybe a weird question. But it just seemed so little to me.

The instructions for the test  also stated that all the semen must go into the cup. However, a tiny bit was lost. Is this really such a disaster? I submitted it anyway, since it was already quite an achievement that my partner managed to do it. He can be quite difficult when it comes to performing on command.

How did this test go for you ?

    Hi Jasmijn,

No idea what amount is “normal”.
My partner did this test directly at the hospital. He was able to have it analyzed there immediately.

Just looked it up; it's around 2 milliliters. That's really not much at all!

It's a bit of a letdown when you see it in a jar, right? The amount can vary quite a bit. I did a semen analysis last year, and it was really just a few milliliters each time. That amount was normal, though; there were no comments about the quantity in my husband's semen test.
