Hi everyone,
A bit of a weird story, but I'm completely lost and hope you guys might be able to give me some advice. Or maybe you can relate to my story.
My husband and I are trying to conceive our first baby. I've been taking folic acid for a while now and we're keeping a close eye on everything.
I've been feeling really different. Having occasional nausea and feeling incredibly tired. Both of which aren't typical for me. Last time, I was 5 days late. We were already super happy! Especially because those 'symptoms' were also showing up. But then I suddenly got my period.. We accepted it and thought: next time will be better! We haven't been trying for that long, so we already thought it was pretty impressive if it happened so quickly.
However, the 'symptoms' kept going on. Getting more and more tired and having occasional nausea. My stomach also feels weird.. Like I'm about to get my period, but I shouldn't be. Until today, when I suddenly, out of nowhere, started bleeding..

It's possible that your body is still adjusting after stopping the pill. Could it also be implantation bleeding? Do you know when you ovulated? If you keep feeling nauseous, you can always take a test. That way you'll have some clarity

I think it helps to have a bit more info. What’s your normal cycle without the pill? How much time was there between your last period and this one? Did you lose a lot or a little blood last time? Did you take a pregnancy test in between since you did have symptoms?

One possibility is that you were actually pregnant despite your previous bleeding, and this is now a miscarriage. There are also women who bleed in between while pregnant, and it doesn’t have to be a miscarriage. Another possibility is that your body is just a bit off due to, say, recently stopping the pill, which made you get your period earlier than expected.

So, to say anything meaningful about this, we need a bit more information.

I stopped the pill 2 years ago. My cycle is always between 35 and 38 days. The bleeding has always been pretty much the same. Last period was on December 9th. Until I suddenly got it on January 20th. That was a 43-day cycle. The bleeding during my last period was minimal, really extremely little. Ovulation was on January 3rd.
I took a test today, and it was negative...

longer than 35 days is indeed a longer cycle than average. Was it already on the longer side before you started the pill? If it takes longer to get pregnant, it might be a good idea to talk to your GP. Do you use ovulation tests to find your ovulation, or do you use other methods?

It's only when you're trying to conceive that you realize how clever your brain and body are at misleading you
The self-fulfilling prophecy is so strong. When you have the desire for a child, you start attaching meaning to every little twinge, every little cramp. You go into overdrive listening to your body. And you know what... that's all not good. Your stress levels go up and down, and you just exhaust yourself with all that calculating, thinking, hoping,.....
Very difficult but still important advice... let it go.
Those ailments, that's your own brain wanting something so badly that you start feeling it. Stick to facts. Tangible things like ovulation and pregnancy tests.
It will happen for you too! It's coming! Believe in it! But don't torture yourself.
