Insurance isn't covering the mother's costs

I'm curious if anyone here knows more about this. When my daughter was born, I had to stay in the hospital because her blood sugar needed to be monitored for the first 24 hours (she was big...). As a mother, I naturally had to stay for those 24 hours too. Now the insurance company is willing to cover my daughter's admission, but not mine because I didn't need care... What do you all think about that?

I would talk to legal aid if I were you. Personally, I think it's ridiculous that it's not covered. Of course, you stay with your child; bonding and attachment with your little one are crucial. But anyway, what I personally think doesn't matter to the health insurer.
