Hey everyone
I'm 28 and have already been to a gynecologist three times. Each time it was a different doctor. Now a friend of mine also recently went to the last one, a week before me. It was her first time (also a regular check-up). She had a smear test and an internal ultrasound. I only had a smear test. I've never had an ultrasound. Shouldn't this be checked? We've been trying to get pregnant for 3 months now... should I go back earlier if it doesn't work out for an ultrasound? Do you all get a standard ultrasound?

Why are you going to a gynecologist? 3 months isn't that long, right? Unless there's a medical reason.

Because I got a letter saying it was time for my check-up. In Belgium, you need to have a check-up every 4 years and you also get a letter when it's time.
I just found it weird that all my girlfriends had an ultrasound during a check-up and I never did.

Oh, I didn't know that! Funny that you have to do it every 4 years. As far as I know, that's not the case here in the Netherlands. No idea what's normal for such an exam

    Hey,

I also got an internal ultrasound every time.
The first time I went for a check-up with a smear test and an internal ultrasound.
The second time when I had an IUD inserted to see if it was in the right place.
And then when I had it removed, also for an internal check.

See! Just like my friends... I don't understand why they haven't done that for me yet if it's part of a standard check-up. Now, I'm not going to go back specifically for that. I hope to be pregnant within the year, or if it doesn't happen after a year, I'll go for a check-up and ask for an ultrasound. I would have liked that; I would have felt more at ease, maybe.
