What do you think of this name?

We're thinking about naming our baby Joël if it's a boy. I'm curious what your first impression is. You used to hear it a lot more often, but I feel like it's less common now? Or am I mistaken..

Getting pregnant wasn't exactly easy, and the meaning of Joël is 'God is good'. We think that's really beautiful. As a middle name, we'll probably go with something that means wonder/gift/joy.

But is the name too old-fashioned, for example?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations! Definitely not old-fashioned at all! Just go for it! I think Joël is also quite nice
And if it were old-fashioned, there are plenty of young kids running around now with names like Kees/Jan/Willem.

Sure, I can appreciate the name. But is it pronounced Joel or Jowel?

I really don't like it. Kind of corny even

So indeed, you then say joo-wèl.

Great name, I think. Anyway, it's always good if it has a nice meaning for you two. And you won't have 5 of them in the class later on, and it's also easy to pronounce and spell. So a great choice! ;-)

I think it's totally fine too! I don't hear the name much anymore either, but I certainly don't think it's outdated. Just go for it, especially if it has a beautiful meaning for you!

    Nice name!
    Djoël or just Joël?
I think people will make their own thing out of it
