Hi there,

I had a really swollen belly for a month. I don't drink alcohol (almost never), but because the weather was so nice, I had a Radler... which turned out to be a bad idea. I went to an amusement park and after a simple ride, I felt incredibly sick. Bumps on my shoulders, etc., etc.

All the symptoms matched pregnancy perfectly. But since I'm on the pill, I thought "this can't be," so I finished the strip... Now I'm bleeding and my belly isn't swollen anymore.

I read that you can still get pregnant on the pill and might bleed because it's a "fake period."

I haven't taken a test yet and I'm scared of getting a positive result because I'm thinking it might be a very early miscarriage. In that case, you'd basically want to say nothing ever happened.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks.

I'm really sorry, but you're not really describing all the symptoms that come with pregnancy.
Lumps on your shoulders isn't a typical pregnancy symptom. A bloated belly can be, but it could also be from gas (bloating). If a radler falls the wrong way, well then you might feel nauseous after a simple ride, indeed.
You can indeed get pregnant despite using the pill correctly, but the chance is extremely small. Especially considering you're bleeding now.
The fact that it's called a fake period when using the pill is because ovulation shouldn't occur with the pill. So there's no need to "clean up" anything in the body. You can also just keep swallowing the pill without a break week. The downside is that you won't know when the unnecessarily built-up uterine lining is shed. That's the whole reason for having a break week, so you know when the big cleaning is happening.
If you want to be sure, you'll have to take a test. However, based on what you've written here, I think it'll come back negative and you're not pregnant. If you feel like you can't trust contraception, it's always wise to use multiple methods so you make the chance of pregnancy completely astronomical. For example, use a condom or spermicidal cream in addition to the pill. But in principle, the pill should already make the chance of pregnancy small enough with correct use.

Thank you for your reply! I should add that I forgot to take the pill once... which never happens to me. We also had sex the day before, in the second week... but I’ve been really “off” for two days now, so unfortunately, I think it’s nothing.

Thanks again, I appreciate you responding. By the way, the Radler wasn’t consumed at the amusement park, but that doesn’t matter.

My fatigue has also decreased significantly, so I’ve accepted that it was nothing or isn’t anything.

If it ever gets to that point... I’ll definitely let you know!
