Vitamins and Folic Acid

Good day,
I have a small question. Since I started trying to get pregnant, I've been taking folic acid, 0.5 mg, daily. Now, I'm a pretty bad eater (I've been like this for a long time), so I feel like I'm not getting enough extra vitamins. I'd like to start taking additional pregnancy vitamins. I currently have a bottle from Kruidvat, which also contains folic acid, namely 400 µg. Should I keep taking both, or is it better to stop with one?

Thanks in advance, greetings Mandy

If you take that multivitamin from Kruidvat, you don’t need to take extra folic acid as well!

Oh, I didn’t know Kruidvat had that. I’ve got a bad eater here too, so maybe I should go get one too

Yes, very handy! It has all sorts of things in it.. just their own brand, multi for pregnant women, from trying to conceive to breastfeeding.
Among other things: vitamin B1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 12, vitamin C, D, E, folic acid, iron, iodine, copper, magnesium, manganese, zinc and omega 3 fatty acids.

There are 60 pills and you take 1 per day.

Just make sure it's really prenatal multivitamins, not the regular ones. Regular ones don't have enough vitamin D, too little iron, and too much vitamin A (which can be harmful).
I take Davitamon Mama Complete myself, very happy with it (I'm also a pretty bad eater, but I had different vitamins checked by the doctor and they looked good, apart from vitamin D which I'm now taking extra). You don't get a vitamin deficiency quickly without symptoms, but it's still important to push yourself to eat more veggies, even if you follow it up with a bag of chips or something later hehe.

You can take the folic acid jar you still have. That’s what my gynecologist told me. He said you can never take too much folic acid.
