After 1.5 years, still not pregnant with a second child

Hey ladies. I have a question and I hope there are some of you I can connect with to talk about the struggle of trying to conceive. Just my story. We have a little boy who is now 2.5 years old. And we've been trying for a second one for almost 1.5 years now. But it just isn't working out. We've had 3 miscarriages and if it doesn't happen by October, we're going into the medical system. Are there more ladies out there with this problem who want to talk about it?

Hey Daphne. I've been at it for a year and a half too, but this time for a fourth. I'd love to chat with you. Right now, my husband isn't into the medical side. He doesn't want me to use ovulation tests either. He really wants to let nature take its course. It worked three times already, why not a fourth? When did it work for you the first time?

With the first one, I was pregnant right away in the first month. And with you, the other one?
  3. Red_tears #4

With the first one, it was in round 4. With the second one, it was in round 9 (first round without painkillers, had to take them because I had severe wrist pain for months), and with the third one, it was in round 11.

It's strange that there's such a big difference. I don't know why that is. Does the chance of getting pregnant decrease with age?

Tricky, huh! You also read that it often takes longer with the first baby because your body still needs to adjust.
  5. Red_tears #6

@merel: yeah, tricky. Sometimes I joke that my kids have completely remodeled it from the inside with all their squirming and kicking. That’s why it’s getting harder.

It's really tough anyway. I heard it can get even harder as you get older.

    Yes, definitely, Daphne.

    Hi ladies,
We've been trying for a second child for 4 years now
The first one was a hit right away. And now it's been 4 years. We're currently starting with the first IUI.
It's a tough time.. and it's already cost a lot of tears.
I hope everyone with a desire for a child gets pregnant soon.
    Cheers

    Hey ladies,
Here I am in round 12 for our first baby, and if it doesn't work out by October, we're going to the medical route.
Sperm has already been checked, nothing wrong with that, and I had an ultrasound too, and everything looked good.
    Never had a miscarriage either...
It's getting more and more painful (emotionally) to get my period, and the hope that it'll work out without help is fading

@meike: Isn't it weird that it gets harder and harder with the second, or even third or fourth? Are we really pushing ourselves that hard?

    @angelajj: Hopefully it's still a natural conception.

It's been 4 years, Maike, I really understand how you feel. Hopefully, IUI will be the solution for you both.
Angelajj, hopefully you won't have to go to the MMR and it works out this month.
Hopefully it works out for you both.

We're also a year and a half further along for a second one. After our first, we were actually only allowed to try again after a year to get pregnant. While the desire for a second was already there right away. After 10 months, we were a bit more careless because the first one took 9 months before I got pregnant. So the desire has actually been there for 2.5 years.
Next year, we'll probably also go into the medical mill. The first tests were good here too. Why does it have to take so long?

Exactly the same here. I have to go for an ultrasound again on August 23.

Hey Daphne and other girls. I totally relate. My first kid is already 2.5 years old and I was pregnant for the first time back then. Now we've been trying for a second one for almost a year. Got pregnant in May but had a miscarriage at 5.5 weeks.
Wishing you all the best and lots of strength!
  15. Red_tears #16

@nell: That's so frustrating. I don't understand why it's not working. Aren't we doing the same things to get pregnant?
  16. Nell* #17

Yeah, that's what I mean, Red Tears.. I really can't understand it either.
Got my period again today and I'm completely drained. I'm even starting to think about giving up on the wish for a second child. I don't know how much longer I can handle this disappointment every month. I feel so sad.
  17. Red_tears #18

Cheer up, Nell. It'll work out again. We've been trying for over 1.5 years for a 4th child. Every time there's disappointment, but you know it'll be forgotten quickly once you have your second miracle in your arms.
  18. Nell* #19

Red tears still seems like an eternity, 1.5 years. Lots of respect!

Come on, Nell. Keep your head up and keep going. ????
