Smells

Hi everyone,
Not sure if others experience this too, but I don't feel very fresh down there. I wash myself every day and sometimes even change into clean underwear a few times a day. Still, it feels unpleasant. I'm trying to get pregnant, and if it works, in 9 months I'll be due, and if it still smells like that, it doesn't seem very fresh for the midwife or anyone else who's there...
Does anyone else have this issue or have any tips?

If it smells very sour or like fish along with a grayish discharge, you might have an infection.

Many women just have an unpleasant smell, but it seems new for you? So, if this is still present or combined with what I mentioned above or with a lot of itching, it's best to visit your GP.

The midwife doesn't care either, since a lot of women poop on the table.

Yeah, not smelling fresh can indicate an infection. It's not that I smell like flowers, but just neutral, definitely not unpleasant. So it seems like it doesn't quite add up.
Did you wash yourself with soap down there?

I've always found it not so fresh-smelling. No idea what it smells like. No, no gray discharge. I've always had a scent, but now you start noticing it. They say washing with soap isn't so good, so I'll just stick to water.
You're right, the midwife does see all sorts of things, so this will probably be no problem, I think.

Hormonal changes also cause changes in smell, that's very normal..

How is your discharge? Could it be related to stopping the pill?

@merel, discharge is still completely normal so far

    No ideas for Shar?

Hey Shar, I once had a Gardnerella infection, and suddenly you smell really bad down there... The discharge was the same as usual and no itching or anything, but it definitely wasn't because of the fish market in Scheveningen. You could even smell it through your underwear and jeans. I first tried one of those anti-fungal pills (Canesten Gyno), which obviously didn't help. So I went to the doctor anyway (since you feel so embarrassed that you don't want to go right away). She immediately said, "Oh, I already know!" So she took a smear just to be sure, and in the meantime, I got antibiotics. Then it was gone in 2 days. So I should have done that much earlier. I always washed with soap (... silly, right?), but you can get it from even more things. Maybe you have something else, but I'd get a smear test done; it's not a nice feeling anyway.

Hi Rosa, oh that's not nice, no. Well, the smell I have doesn't smell like fish. I can't smell it through my jeans yet, but I can through my underwear. With toilet visits, you hang your nose right above the smell, pffff, sometimes I think... do others smell this too? But apparently not, I think, otherwise I would have really heard it from people who dare to say it. I'll see what I can do about it. Thanks for the info.

But how does it smell then?

Ah Merel, the classic question! I don't smell fish either. Maybe something sour? Or rather that sweaty smell from running, even if I just got out of the shower. I'm just going to leave it alone for now. Just wait and see if it goes away on its own. If not, I'll give the health center a call for some reassurance.
