Another big mistake by the RIVM

Out of an abundance of caution, the RIVM is halting the use of approximately 20,000 doses of the Infanrix-IPV vaccine.
...
An internal quality check by GSK revealed that the production area where the vaccine was made was not completely sterile.
...
there is no reason to assume that the vaccine causes health problems for children who have already been vaccinated.
and
Vaccine from this batch has been administered about 50,000 times over the past months without any issues.
So if I understand correctly, they gave 50,000 people non-sterile vaccinations, pulled the rest from the shelves, but still have the nerve to claim it won't do any harm if you've already had it.
That seems a bit weird to me. If they are so sure it won't do any harm, they wouldn't need to recall it.

For me, this is just another confirmation that you'd better not take the RIVM too seriously.

Absolutely ridiculous. 50,000 children were vaccinated with a syringe that was produced unsterile, and then the RIVM just dares to say: "Nothing's wrong with it, really!" Oh dear, if you as a parent don't do what the RIVM says, but they can do whatever they want when it comes to the health of our children... After the whole Mexican flu fiasco and now this again, you just can't take them seriously anymore...
