newborn baby sleeping bag or blanket in the summer

Hi! My due date is July 31st for my first baby, and I was planning to put the baby in a sleep sack because I heard they can suffocate under blankets. But yesterday, at a birthday party, someone told me that newborns get too cold and really need a blanket. What do you all recommend? How can I keep a newborn warm enough and safe while sleeping?

You can set up a crib quickly. So the baby sits with their feet against the footboard, and the blanket/sheet is arranged so it comes up to the baby's shoulders. This way, your baby can't get under the covers. In summer, it's often warm, and you don't have to worry so much about your little one getting too cold. A sleep sack will definitely be warm enough, and maybe even too warm. I'd get both, so you can decide what's warm enough yourself. Having an extra blanket is always handy. Suppose it's very cold in winter; you can put that over the sleep sack.
