Rare question

Hi everyone,

I have a weird and slightly embarrassing question. I'm currently pregnant with my third baby (about 11 weeks). My first was born via C-section and my second vaginally. With the second birth, I had a very small tear in a labia, so they did stitch it up, but otherwise no tearing or episiotomy.

Recently, I had sex with my husband, and afterwards I suddenly noticed an extra flap at my vagina. It's really like a little tongue that has come out from the bottom inside my vagina. It's fairly numb.

Does anyone recognize this? Could this be related to my current pregnancy or my previous births? I normally wouldn't worry much about it, but now that I'm pregnant, it's a bit scary...

Thanks!!
Lola

I can't see how it looks, of course. It could be that it's been there since your last delivery and is now just pushed out a bit. Otherwise, ask your midwife to take a look at it during your next check-up? It doesn't seem like anything unusual, just a piece of skin, but I can't see it so I can't assess it.

If you want an answer, I think it's probably helpful to have an image along with it. It could be anything, I guess, but usually nothing weird! It's anonymous here anyway, so post your photo.

No weird question at all. Just hard to answer like this!

Maybe you were already cracked inside and the stitching came loose too early, so it couldn’t grow together.
Or maybe it wasn’t attached at all.

    Thanks for your replies!
I have my next appointment with the gynecologist next Wednesday, so I’ll definitely ask her. I’m mainly hoping I don’t have any prolapse or anything like that!

It’s indeed possible that it’s always been there and I’m only noticing it now because it has become more visible.

I don’t feel comfortable posting a photo, sorry. I understand it’s hard for you to answer without seeing it, so I really appreciate you thinking along with me!

@MamaV: I’m indeed not attached internally. If it’s scar tissue, then it’s from a tear that they didn’t notice or didn’t suture.

Hi Lola, I totally get it! It's pretty anonymous here, but it's still your vagina, of course!
But could it just be that your inner labia is slightly torn on one side, making one longer than the other?

Let me know what they say! A prolapse isn't something that makes you happy, but I think it'll feel different (luckily, I have no experience with it)!

    Hi Merel,
I'll definitely let you know next Wednesday what the OB/GYN said.
It could be a small piece of labia, yes, in connection with the stitches they put in after my birth or something...
I'll post it here next week! X

I'm curious, it's not painful, right?

The "flap" itself is almost numb. Otherwise, it doesn't hurt either, but I don't dare pull on it or anything!
    I'm curious too!
  10. Merel #11

Just pull it on, and stop if it hurts! Hihi!

By the way, could it just be your labia? They’re not perfectly symmetrical for anyone! Mine is longer on one side than the other too, and I’m surely not the only one?

    Hi Merel,
The gynecologist checked it today. It's just a piece of tissue, could be from the hymen that came out a bit after giving birth, or it could be a scar from the birth itself. So I probably had it for a long time but just never noticed. It's really a separate piece, so it's definitely not a labia.
Anyway, it's nothing serious! :-) Luckily!

Oh, that's good to know! And if you or your partner aren't bothered by it, it can just stay in, right?

That's right, as long as it doesn't bother us, there's nothing to worry about :-) Thanks for caring, Merel!

    Is everyone doing okay here?
