Why be careful with lifting and bending?

Maybe a silly question, but I keep hearing about being careful with lifting and bending. Why is that? Does it also apply to the first trimester?

Your joints loosen up during pregnancy due to the hormones, which is practical for giving birth, but not so practical during your pregnancy. In the first trimester, you can basically do anything, the baby is well protected. Pay attention to what your body tells you; if you were busy and feel it the next day, then it was too much. Later in the pregnancy, you'll notice it through contractions or if something feels too intense. So use your Dutch common sense!

Also, as your belly grows, your center of gravity shifts, which means you're more likely to make a wrong move when bending or lifting. And you really don't want back pain during your pregnancy.
