Admission for preeclampsia

Hi hi.
Just dropping a little message from the hospital to let my heart out and maybe find some fellow moms in the same boat.
Last Friday I was admitted because my blood pressure was way too high—it was almost at the top, so I had to get a heavy dose of magnesium via IV right away because the pressure in my head would’ve gotten too high and become dangerous. This stuff makes you feel super drowsy and sluggish, like everything’s passing you by.
Since last Sunday, they’ve managed to stabilize things enough that I was allowed to come off the IV and was transferred to the maternity ward to rest and regain strength, etc. I’m currently 34+4 weeks, and since my blood pressure is now under control, they’re trying to delay delivery as long as possible so the little one can keep growing and getting stronger.
This is a quick summary of the whole situation—I was told this morning that they want to keep me here until I go into labor, at the latest until 37 weeks, assuming nothing changes with my blood pressure or if labor starts on its own.
I’m really, really emotional about this because it’s so hard for me to have to stay here alone without my family and my lovely partner. With the meds that made me so drowsy, I didn’t really notice, but now that I’m more myself again, I’m fully aware of it. I know why I’m doing this and I’m doing everything for my little one to bring them into the world healthy, but it’s still really tough being alone in the room (once visitors have gone home).

Hang in there! I have a friend with pregnancy-induced hypertension, and her baby had to be born at 26 weeks! Believe me, her little boy had to fight for his life. So no matter how bad you feel, just push through! The longer your little angel can stay in your belly, the better. Good luck xx
