NIPT test
YonnekeGuest ·
I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant, and I'm facing this dilemma: should I get a NIPT test done, or should I skip it and just let things take their course?
This is such a tough decision for me, and my partner too. Of course, I'd really like to know if my baby is healthy, but do I want to do that if it just causes me more stress? What if I get news that something actually is wrong? What if the baby has Down syndrome or Patau syndrome? How would I then make a choice about what's best? This is going to be my first baby, and the arrival was completely unexpected!! Very much wanted, but totally unprepared for anything. And now I'm faced with such a difficult choice.
Besides the reasons mentioned above, there's also the financial aspect. The NIPT test is out-of-pocket and costs 175 euros. Money I'd much rather use for when the little one is here!
Who can advise me on this? Are there any ladies who are also currently pregnant and have the same dilemma? Are there any ladies who had the option but declined it? Are there any ladies who had the option and did go ahead with it? If so, what was the result and how did you cope with it?
Thanks in advance!!
