I actually want to give birth in the hospital, but if you're not medically indicated, I think you have to pay some kind of contribution. I still need to look into it.

    Hi! I think it depends on your insurance how much is covered, but I think there are quite some costs involved..
    I really want to give birth at home and in a birth pool! It has many benefits for mother and baby, for the mother less pain and less chance of tearing, and for the baby a gentle way to come into the world. I've seen my mother give birth in a bath, she had a storm of contractions which was very painful but as soon as she sat in the bath she could finally catch her breath and cope with it much better (and even chat nicely ). Seems like a lovely way to give birth!

    @Anke, yeah, same here for me. I need to figure out exactly how it works.

    @Mommy92, I think a birth pool sounds really nice too.. a relaxing way, hehe.

    hi ladies

    for me this will be my second birth and I still really want to have a water birth.
    for my first birth I rented a pool from what I think was waterooievaar.nl.
    unfortunately I went into labor with ruptured membranes for 2 days and was transferred to an OB.
    now I want to find out what it costs to give birth in Belgium at a special clinic for water births.

    Hi,
    I’ll be giving birth in the hospital initially on my own initiative, but given my pregnancy diabetes, it will probably be medically induced anyway!
    However, I don’t have to pay anything myself, so it depends on which package you have with your insurance!

    I’d really like to give birth at home because I feel best there, I think.

    I want to give birth in the hospital, just in case something goes wrong, there are enough machines and doctors to help you out. I have hospitalization insurance, so my delivery and room and such are covered.

    My preference is also for the hospital now. Everything at hand, no hellish last-minute trips... but maybe I'll think differently about it later in the pregnancy.... ;-)

    I’d also really love to give birth in a bath, but unfortunately, that won’t happen for me because of my asthma
    So anyway, I already know I’ll always have to give birth in the hospital
    Sometimes it’s a pity, but sometimes it gives a more reassuring feeling.

    @Mandy
    I’m having my baby in the hospital because that’s where I feel most comfortable. Where are you planning to give birth?

    Love, Ju

    @ Ju, I’d also really prefer to give birth in the hospital; I feel more comfortable there.
    Did you also give birth in the hospital last time?
    Love!

    @Mandy,
    Okay, clear. Girl was 16 years ago and 12 years ago also in ZKH, so now also ZKH wouldn't know why not. I just feel better about it.

    How is your pregnancy going and umm how many weeks are you at? Because we can't see that from your post.

    Love, Ju

    The first one was an emergency C-section, so I had to give birth in the hospital... (which I was already planning anyway)
    For the second one too, because I'll need medical care anyway after a C-section...
    I always had everything ready and such. But now secretly for the third, I would have liked to give birth at home... but well, if everything goes well, that sounds really nice... right in your own environment, shower/bath etc. baby immediately cozy at home...
    but well, I'm not allowed to do that, so it'll be the hospital again ;-)

    16 years ago I gave birth at home and have to say that was really nice. Definitely your own environment, no travel etc.
    Now I have to give birth at the hospital for two reasons: first, because of my age and the complications from the first birth, and second, because the pregnancy isn't going exactly as it should.
    I think it's a good idea that all the help our baby might need will be right there on site and, hopefully, well-prepared.

    @ Ju, yeah, you should just do that again now, right! I feel better too, honestly. I hear a lot from Jo that you're in the hospital as much as needed, but she still insists on staying in the hospital, hehe.
    I'm now over 22 weeks and everything's going well, thankfully. I feel good, not as tired or nauseous anymore, which makes a big difference, I think How are you feeling?
    Greetings, Mandy!

    @Mandy,
    I'm doing okay, just really tired and sometimes getting strong contractions, but that's normal.
    Glad you're not feeling so tired anymore and that you're not nauseous..
    Were you? Do you already know what you're having??
    We're having a boy.

    Love Ju

    With Silvan, I gave birth at home but had to go to the ZKH to get stitched up. I had a sub-total rupture. I've now stated that I want to give birth at home, but I'm starting to have doubts. The ZKH is a safe bet if something goes wrong... So I still don't know!

    @AnnaRebecca,
    a partial tear means you were completely torn? Sounds painful, AnnaRebecca.

  18. AnnaRebecca #19

    A partial tear means your sphincter is partially torn... and a complete tear means it's completely torn, you know... At the moment, I was so full of adrenaline that I didn't feel the pain... It was only after the stitches and especially in the following days (think about bowel movements, ouch ouch) that it was a disaster!!! I'm afraid of that again now...

    @annarebecca,

    That doesn't sound like fun at all. Maybe it's a good idea to talk things over with your OB-GYN or midwife.
    I wrote a birth plan and it gives me a bit of peace of mind.
    Hope everything stays calm for you...:-)

    Love, Ju
