Sore nipples

Kelly Oleksy
Hi ladies,

I'm currently 19 weeks pregnant and for the past two or three weeks, I've been regularly experiencing a burning sensation on my nipples. Especially when there are temperature changes (going from indoors to outdoors and vice versa).

Are there any other women who have this issue, and what might help?

Best,
Kelly

I think it's Raynaud's syndrome (if I'm spelling it right), which mostly occurs in women who are breastfeeding. The nipple then becomes pale/white and feels very painful. Do you have that too? I think it's caused by poor blood circulation in the capillaries.
If you're not sure, go see your GP.

    Hi Lexie,
    Thanks for your reply.
I haven't really noticed the color change yet since it's not always that obvious (people around me). But I'm still pregnant (with our first baby ) and therefore not breastfeeding yet. I also read online that the syndrome you're talking about usually shows up on the hands and feet.. But if it gets worse and I have a lot of discomfort, I'll definitely ask my OB/GYN or GP for advice.
    Best wishes

Yeah, it often happens with breastfeeding women around the nipples, but I don't think it means it can't happen during pregnancy too. After all, your breasts change during pregnancy as well. Good luck anyway

I have this too! I'm 23 weeks pregnant now, but I've had it since the beginning, some weeks worse than others. It feels like it mainly hurts when my nipples get hard, so in the cold.
