Miscarriage

Hi, last week I had a miscarriage after 8 weeks of pregnancy. Even though it wasn't planned, I found it really special to get pregnant at 37, and he/she was so very welcome. I was wondering if there are any other women here who have recently had a miscarriage and would like to share thoughts and experiences about it. Best wishes

    Hi Loes,
Thanks for your message. I tried to send you a private message but for some reason it says that it doesn't work. That's rough that you had to go through that too. Do you have other kids? I don't, it was my first pregnancy. Just like you said, one moment things are going pretty well and the next I'm so emotional again. Physically I find it quite intense too, I've had this pain in my belly and back all week. Did you have this for a long time?

    Hi Puckje,

No, I don't have kids yet, and this was my first pregnancy too. I just got my period for the first time since the miscarriage, so I'm going to try again with good courage in the coming weeks. I can't let go of it as easily as I did in February. Back then, I was much more relaxed about it

It's tough that you're having so much abdominal pain. That makes it harder to stop thinking about it, I imagine. Physically, I didn't have that much trouble, but things went a bit strangely for me too. My miscarriage didn't start on its own (empty gestational sac, so it was never a viable pregnancy, but at 8 weeks I still had a growing sac and plenty of hormones). So I used Cytotec pills, which are like labor-inducing drugs. I had a massive amount of pain for one evening, and after that, just occasional mild abdominal pain for a week. It took more than a week before I passed the sac and the miscarriage was complete (normally that happens much faster!). I bled for a bit more than three weeks in total, but that was really the only thing I noticed afterward. And now, after 6.5 weeks, I'm on my period again (that usually happens faster too! )

You mentioned that your pregnancy wasn't planned; do you think you'll try for a second time, or are you going to hold off?

Hi, reading your story makes it seem really tough to me. It must be even harder knowing it's an empty sac and then having to wait and see when things start to move. I had light bleeding for 4 days, which I found quite draining. That uncertainty before it becomes clear that it's really a miscarriage. And I read a lot online, but sometimes you're better off not doing that???? Luckily, you didn't have many physical symptoms. The bleeding lasted a week for me, and since yesterday, I've had almost no more abdominal or back pain. I have an appointment with the gynecologist tomorrow, which I'm dreading. It was the only appointment left, so I would've preferred it to be a nicer one, but oh well.

It's exciting that you're trying again!! It's also really nice. Even though it wasn't planned for me, I'd love to be pregnant again right now. I got to experience it for such a short time and had already secretly looked forward to becoming a mother. Luckily, my partner feels the same way, so that's nice. I'm just worried about my age and that it's the first time it's gone wrong, but I shouldn't dwell on that too much right now.
