I came across the 3FM website online with their funny name contest, where names like 'Conny Plassen' and 'Koos Busters' popped up. What names have you guys come across that made you think; that really can't be!

Hmmmmm........ years ago I did an internship at the municipality, and someone there had the name Elke Weeke. Now, that might not sound so weird to non-Groningers, but you could translate it as: "every week".

Oh, that's so funny! Your brother's name should be Boek! My brother had a boy in his class whose name was Boek.

I had a colleague who had a neighbor named P.E. Nis. Then your parents didn't really think it through either, huh......

Iza, oh that's so sad. But I caught myself laughing for a second...

Nynke, I don't even want to know how those people came up with that name.

I once met someone named S. Nikkel... And recently we came across a real estate agent named youandi.... Well.

Hihi!! The worst thing I've ever heard is "Prosperd Tituee". They probably laughed about it in the pub too...

A colleague named her baby Do, I think it's a really nice name, but her last name was De Cat. Try saying that in one go! Do-de cat...

I was at the zoo years ago with my parents, and the dad called out to his daughter: Coco! I thought he was calling for a parrot...
My colleague told me a funny story. He’s from Brabant, and a woman in the village had the maiden name "Jeuken". She married a guy named "Billekes" and her first name was "Mien". Do the math yourself ......

Oh, and I'm not a big fan of Angela Schijf's children's first names either: Bloem, Mensje, and Zus... Yikes....

Willem Cornelis pot, that's what a client of mine was called! So it shows up in the system as W.C. Pot.

A friend who works at a daycare told me about a girl named Usnavy. When she asked the parents where the name came from because she’d never heard it before, they dead seriously explained that they were on vacation in America, walking around a harbor, and saw a boat with that name on it....
    U.S. Navy

    Seriously!
  14. Olivia-Anna #15

Oh no!! You can't mean it!! How can you be so far behind??
Then I'd seriously consider changing the name!!

At camp with us, there was once a twin pair named Harley & Davidson, which I thought was really lame. I also once saw a birth announcement with Wobbe on it, as if you can't pronounce the R.

At my school, there was a guy named Rik Tammenaars. If you say that quickly here in West Flanders, it sounds like "smells my ass." They should have thought twice before choosing that name.

ohh that's really quite a lot...

but well, some people and their choice(s),....
unfortunately nothing you can do about it

So there's a gynecologist at the hospital where I have my OB-GYN whose last name is "De Neuker." Given his profession, I can only imagine how awkward that must be.
