Forum Pregnancy tests, ovulation and ovulation tests

How do you handle this? Symptoms, but (still) a negative test.

My question might seem a bit premature, but it felt like a good idea to vent my heart here for a bit. I’m currently in a state of tension and waiting, because my early pregnancy test (so far) hasn’t come back positive.

My situation regarding trying to conceive?
I use the Ladycomp myself, so I know exactly when my ovulation is (red blinking light). I’ve been off hormonal contraception for 2.5 years now. I know my body well and have regular periods (within a 1-day difference). I ovulated on October 30th. The week before, we had unprotected sex at least 5 times (every other day). On the 30th, we did it twice. So it’s possible I got pregnant, even though this is the first time we’re trying.

Why did I take a test so early?
It’s October 7th now, which is only 8 days after my ovulation, but I could have been fertilized a few days before that too. Three days after ovulation, I was still completely calm about it. But on the fourth morning, I saw some brown mucus on my toilet paper. Implantation bleeding? The following days, I had some brown drops during some toilet visits, and a few days later, some blood in my underwear. Not much, but it was there. Today, I even saw a very small clot. But just now, I went to the toilet again, and there was nothing. This was accompanied by some dull abdominal pain, but that’s gone now. The drops of blood/brown remain.

My breasts have been extremely tight and painful for 5 days, including my nipples. Normally, they only hurt a bit on the sides before my period starts. Not more than a week before.

Last weekend I was very nauseous, but today that’s a bit less, though I do burp a lot (TMI). I also have a clearer feeling of hunger and my stomach is gurgling.

Also, I have to pee much more often. I consciously drink enough because it’s healthy and important for a potential baby, but now I have to go to the toilet after every cup of tea, even though I’m not someone who usually urinates that often. I’m also very thirsty and have a dry mouth.

My Ladycomp says I should get my period in 3-4 days, on day 29-30, as usual. Because my husband and I were a bit enthusiastic and impatient, and found the symptoms quite strange, we took a test (Etos Early). It was negative. A second test (Clear Blue Digital) was also negative. I probably tested too early.
I’m starting to doubt what’s going on with my body and still feel like I’m definitely pregnant because of these symptoms. The tests disappointed me and confused me. So I won’t do it again until my missed period.

What does the GP say?
The GP told me it could be implantation bleeding, even if it lasts 5-6 days. An very early miscarriage would involve more bleeding, because everything would have to come out. Of course, she advises me to wait until I should get my period, and preferably test a day after that. Or I should wait until I actually get my period, meaning I’m not pregnant. Then we’ll know for sure.

So what’s going on with my body?
I’ve had regular and clear periods my whole life. I usually get a lot of PMS symptoms, but I’m not noticing any of that now, even though my period should be coming next week. I’ve never had spotting before, and I’ve been off the Nuvaring for over two years. This is very strange for me. I find it quite annoying that my body is messing with me like this, right as we’re trying for the first time. That would be too coincidental, wouldn’t it?

My question?
Does anyone recognize this? I don’t need an answer or to know if I’m pregnant, and I know I can really only test after my missed period, but I’m just shaken and confused by my strange-feeling body. What’s going on, I keep wondering? And how do you hold out during the wait if you’re a bit of a worrier? How do you experience the wait when you do have symptoms? I don’t need a solution, just a bit of experience from someone here or a reassuring answer that helps me put things in perspective and hold on for a few more days.

I can really only say one thing about this: chill!!!!!!
If this is your first round, you're going to have a hard time if you keep going like this. Maybe you'll get pregnant right away, which would of course be super, but keep in mind that the average woman takes a year to get pregnant.

This isn't criticism, but try to let it be for now. It's nice that you're using the Ladycomp and you know when your ovulation occurs, but don't focus too much on any symptoms right now and don't start messing with early tests. Of course, you feel all sorts of things now because you're right in the middle of it, but often these ailments are really all in your head!

Thanks! You're saying exactly what I already know and what I tell myself too. But it's nice to have someone confirm it.
The breast changes and bleeding aren't happening in my head, the rest could be. Weird, right. You think you know your body well and then all this happens to you out of nowhere..
I'll skip the early tests for now. Just have to wait and see.

    Thanks anyway!

I'm curious how others here dealt with it/will deal with it.

hopefully I'm wrong and you're just pregnant!

but seriously, been there, done that.
I took pregnancy tests for ages because my body kept giving me signs that I was pregnant month after month.
only when I was actually pregnant did I notice the difference between these 'in your head' symptoms and the real pregnancy symptoms..

lots of luck and I hope to read soon here on Brabbels that you're pregnant!

    Hi Nadienn,
exactly the same scenario here.. My NOD is on Wednesday and I can totally relate to your story..
The only thing I don't have is nausea, but I do have 5 days of pinkish spotting (implantation bleeding?) when wiping after urinating, very frequent urination, constipation, bloating, very sore/sensitive breasts, cramps and sharp pains radiating to my right groin area, lower back pain..
I'll be so happy when we reach Wednesday

Thanks, I hope so too. And if not, there are still plenty of chances hopefully! I also don't understand why my body is acting so weird; I find that strange whether I'm pregnant or not.
Have you ever had bleeding or brown mucus that threw you off? Or does anyone else relate to that?
Good luck with your two girls, and it's nice that you replied!

    Hi Anneleen,
It's secretly nice to read that you're in the same boat. Weird, right, when your body seems to clearly say that something is going on. I hope for you that it is, and I'd advise against doing an early test, it only confused me. Good luck with the waiting. Maybe look for distractions in the coming days?

How many days past ovulation are you?
Did your period also start a few days after that?
Are you normally very regular with your period?
Shall we let you know here how it turned out?
  7. Anneleen1986 #8

My ovulation was on 25-10-2016. So now 13 days DPO.
My period started last week on 03-11-2016, 9 days DPO so that would be perfect implantation timing.
I'm always very regular, I always feel my ovulation and my cycle always starts on time..

    frustrating

Theoretically speaking, it could be an implantation, just like with me. I'm also wondering what else it could be. But who knows, maybe it's just a weird period this time.

Exciting, Anneleen! Good luck finding distractions in the coming days.
  9. Anneleen1986 #10

You too, good luck! Keep me posted

    I do!
It's so nice to hear from someone on this forum who gets it

I had moderate bleeding 6 days before my EDD, then nothing more. On my EDD I wasn't on my period, the next day I tested positive and a day later I lost a lot of blood.. A few days later I went to the OB-GYN urgently and she wasn't optimistic.. I had an ultrasound and an hCG blood test.. A week later it was repeated and it was actually fine. I did lose blood a few more times that week, but never again after that.

    Hi Nura,
You must have been so anxious during those weeks. But apparently things can get intense with bleeding and still end up positive. That’s good, because I’ve been wondering; Could I be bleeding because something went wrong? But I had a calm day today and feel okay about it. Whatever happens and whatever this is. Anyway, I keep telling myself that
I hope everything continues to go well for you and that you get to have a beautiful baby.
And thank you for your reply.

    Hi Anneleen,

I'm on day 28 today. Still having some light bleeding with some bathroom visits, but with others there's nothing on my underwear. I still find it so weird. From today on, I could get my period. My breasts feel really tight in my bra now. My bleeding has already lasted 7 days and is now overlapping with my predicted period days. I'm curious whether this will continue or if it'll stay at the daily drops I have now... And especially what it means.

I've decided with my husband to wait until at least day 30, so that if we test, we don't test too early and I'm truly 'overdue'. I'm counting down the days!

It all makes me feel very unsure and confused. Not a nice feeling at all.

I was wondering how things went for you and how they are going now?
  14. Anneleen1986 #15

    Hi Nadien,

Unfortunately, despite all the symptoms, my period started yesterday.. heavy bleeding (which I never have) and bright red blood..
I hope everything turns out okay for you and that you test positive this week keep me posted!
    Big hug

    Hi Anneleen,

That's really sad and maybe a bit heartbreaking. Hopefully, it hits next round.
I really appreciated reading your story here anyway.

Have you ever had a weird period that started too early or too late?

Thanks, I'll let you know. It's quite nerve-wracking.

    Hugs back!

    Hi Nadienn,

Last month I also had spotting for 3 days. I've never had this before.
    Pretty annoying
I'd love to hear from you if you've tested!

Got my period today, so no need for a test on Monday. It's quite a heavy one, lots of blood though.

I'd already accepted it since my temperature had dropped. Actually, I find the clarity quite nice. I also didn't expect to get pregnant right away, so I'm okay with it. Hehe, finally the breakthrough.

The GP wants to see me briefly because I have a lot of PMS symptoms, usually have regular periods, and this was quite unusual. Probably a blood test. I was "not on my period" for 3 out of 4 weeks this month. I don't expect too much from it and hope we'll get pregnant another month this coming year.

I do hope I won't get any spotting then, so I can calmly wait and see if I get my period or not. But who knows.

Thanks for reading along, for your interest, experiences, and tips. I really appreciated it!

    Sorry, sweetheart!

    Another message from me.
    I'm pregnant!
According to my GP, implantation didn't go well last month, which is possible.
But now it's definitely happening! I have sore, painful breasts, nausea, and I'm extremely tired now, just like last month. But I can't sleep because of excitement. I already have my first ultrasound at 6.5 weeks (due to holidays and appointments). Who else had an ultrasound this early and how was it?
I can't wait. I notice that I also check for any bleeding every time I go to the toilet. So far, only clear mucus. Does anyone else experience this?
I'm also participating in Moeders voor Moeders, and they're coming next week.
    It's all so exciting.
