Recurrent miscarriages, what now?

Hey Sofija,

Same here, always that disappointment.
Last year I was pregnant twice within four months and unfortunately, nothing to see on both ultrasounds. Once at 5 weeks and 2 days, and once at 7 weeks and 1 day. Since then, I haven't been able to hold a good positive test yet. I do think there have been a few fertilizations at least, but unfortunately without result.

I was also told that it's probably just bad luck. Well, you just have to deal with that, right...
So now I'm in the mmm and on hormones. I also take various vitamins like multivitamin, zinc, C, wheat germ oil, and I eat almost every day a spoonful of ground flaxseed.

    I would look for a different OB-GYN!!
After 3 miscarriages, you should get tested to see if they can find a cause for why it keeps happening.

True, that’s allowed even after two miscarriages. But Danny, if you get that tested for chromosomes etc., there will be months where you also can’t get pregnant.

And don’t forget that they hardly say anything about alternative remedies that might also work. They have similarities with the pharmaceutical industry, so yeah...

I’m allowed to do research, and you know what they say? Yes, if something comes out of it, we can’t do anything with it! And you won’t get any medication.

So what good is that to me? I do find them incredibly cautious, and they say, "Yes, you’ll get pregnant quickly anyway, so treatment is pointless."

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, they can't do much about it individually.

But because of the MKs, I'm now seeing the gynecologist and getting medication, and I've had an HSG.

The problem might be with implantation. Wheat germ oil is good for that, and so is flaxseed.

I bought wheat germ now, but yeah, it really makes me sad, and all my friends get pregnant so easily, one after another.

I take one tablespoon per day of it (first cycle) because I think the recommended amount of two tablespoons is a bit too much. I thought I'd see how it works first.

Yeah, that's not nice either. My sister barely has to blink her eyes and she's pregnant! She already has three kids.

Do you, as far as you know, not have any adhesions or anything like that?

No, everything looks fine, said the gynecologist. She has confidence that it will go well. But I'm taking wheat germ tablets, is that wrong?

My sister also has 4 kids!

Tablets, yes? I use oil from the health food store. I think the body absorbs it better that way.

My sister-in-law has had 5 miscarriages. She got pregnant quickly each time, but lost the baby between 4-8 weeks each time. Now she has a sweet little boy who is 1.5 years old. So definitely keep hoping!
    Strength!

Lise, did your sister do anything different than usual then?
  11. Lise #12

No, absolutely nothing. They didn't even test for anything else. So it could still turn out fine. I hope it goes well for your girls! I had one myself, and I already found that pretty intense...

Okay, well, you still have hope!

    I have one too. She's already 9 :-)

Oh no, Nannie, that's so tough, girl At least you have a 9-year-old girl. This also shows that your body is capable of carrying a child! So, in that regard, I hope that gives you some comfort. That's at least how it was for me; I only had one last month. And for me, it was comforting to know that I already have a beautiful boy running around.

Sofija, that's intense, have you already been through a lot? And maybe what Nannie says about wheat germ could be a solution. I think what she uses from the health food store might be better than those tablets. It's more natural, but that's just my opinion.

Wishing you lots of strength and hopefully a little miracle soon who stays

I’m sure counting my blessings! But yeah, it’s been nearly ten years now, so we’re not exactly young anymore when it comes to trying to conceive, and my body has taken quite a beating over the years. Still, I do have a little faith that it’s still meant to be for us. :-)
  15. s #16

Yes, I'll check today where I can buy it—maybe it'll help me! I've already had 4 behind me, alternating between 5 and 7.5 weeks, so yes, it's really in the early phase. The gynecologist thinks it's just that implantation isn't going well.

I also have diabetes, but it's pretty well under control, so I don't think that's the issue. There are so many women who are in much worse shape and still get babies—some people even smoke or have a lot of excess weight, etc. I don't have any of that, so I just hope it'll work out fine one day. I just don't understand my own body—why can't I get pregnant in one go like everyone else?

But yeah, I might ask my sister about that remedy that cleans the womb, so it's completely clean.

Yes, that's true. Have you been trying for a while? How old are you? Feel free to share if you'd like, no pressure!

I'm rooting for you that it happens for you soon!

Yeah, tricky, Sofija. That’s why, maybe your uterine lining isn’t thick enough, but there could be other reasons of course, I don’t know.

I’ve read some good stories about acupuncture before, maybe you could look into that. And massages, so that everything gets good blood flow and blockages are cleared.
  18. MamaN #19

Oh sorry, I just saw your message now, Sofija.

That's really tough. And it doesn't matter how long you were pregnant, it's still a loss because you know what it could have been, and they are your babies after all. I'm really rooting for you for a good pregnancy
  19. s #20

    That's sweet!
I'm 28, so I'm still pretty young to try. But you do get a bit restless when it just doesn't work out.
I'll see what happens in the new year... how do you deal with those feelings?
