Cytotec and breastfeeding
MamaN
Hi ladies,
I had a miscarriage a month ago, and it turned out today that a piece of the gestational sac was left behind, which is why I kept bleeding. The gynecologist removed the piece with forceps and gave me 8 Cytotec pills. 4 pills at a time. I’m breastfeeding my 15-month-old son, and the pharmacist was a bit wishy-washy about its use. I’m reading that you’re actually not supposed to use it while breastfeeding. The pharmacist said no breastfeeding for the first 4 hours after insertion, but then you can resume. Seems to me that it would still be in my milk if I pump it out. I inserted the pills this afternoon at 3 PM and haven’t given my son breast milk since. He normally gets it before bedtime, so I had to let him cry
Maybe he’ll wake up tonight from thirst due to the heat combined with needing the breast.
Does anyone have experience with Cytotec and breastfeeding? How did you handle it? What do you advise me to do regarding my breastfeeding, should I pump or just resume giving it?
I’m worried about giving it again
