Got baby oil in my eye

Hi everyone,

I put baby oil on his head tonight and a bit got into his right eye. I'm not sure if that's harmful.

I immediately grabbed a wet washcloth and wiped most of the oil out of his eye, but since then he's been crying a lot, even after his bottle... What should I do? Should I keep trying with a wet washcloth and keep wiping it clean? Please help, my little guy seems to be bothered by it, but I'm also worried about whether it's harmful if the oil stays in his eye. It's baby oil from Kruidvat.

    Well, since he bumped his head, something got into his eye...

    Ask your GP just to be sure; they can also check his eyes to see if he's really bothered by it. I can imagine it's irritating or could cause harm, I don't know.

    Thankfully, he didn’t have any issues with it.
    I’ve washed his little face as much as possible, but I’ll keep an eye on it.

    It won't be dangerous. I mean it does happen more often with babies and young children, for example when splashing.

    If in doubt, I'd just go to the doctor.
    Often you see redness with irritation, and with an infection, stuff comes out. Also, they keep the eye more closed than the other one with irritation.
