Baby too heavy?

Hi

What's been on my mind for a while is the answer from the child health clinic. The nurse mentioned that our daughter is already above average in weight for her age. So, if she continues to grow like this, she'll be too heavy at the next visit.
Our daughter is now 10 weeks old and weighs 5.2 kg, but she's been above average in weight since birth (3990g).
Now we're supposed to go back to fewer bottles, but I find it quite difficult because she's just a good eater, and I have to stretch out the feeding times by an hour, for example. It's not like she gets the bottle every time she cries or coughs, but according to that lady, there should be at least 4 hours between feeds, but she usually comes back already after 2 to 3 hours.
What's your experience with this? Should I be worried...

Not that I know anything about it yet, but maybe give her a formula that fills her up a bit more so she doesn't get hungry as quickly?

Hi Daniek. Don't worry too much. I have a 10-week-old son myself. Last week, at 9 weeks, he weighed more than your daughter did at the pediatrician's office. They didn't say anything to me.

As long as your daughter is content, it's fine. Try to offer the bottle every 3 hours.

My boy gained weight quickly with the formula. At the pediatrician's, they said it's fine as long as you don't give more than 1000 cc per 24 hours, so you don't overwork his kidneys.

And before you know it, they'll start moving more... and the baby fat will melt away

    Hi Daniek,

I wouldn't worry about it. Our son was born premature at 3140g, is taller than average, and his birth weight was also always a bit on the heavy side, but now that he's crawling and moving around a lot, we think he's even a bit thin.

We never let him go hungry, but we did give him a bit more filling formula. However, he got constipated from it, so we stopped that too.

We don't like being hungry either, do we? That's how I see it.

    Good luck!

    Hi ladies

Thanks for your replies. We've switched to formula specifically designed for hungry babies. It works sometimes, but other times she's hungry again pretty quickly. I'm now trying to take her for a walk in between feedings so I can stretch out the feeding times a bit more.

Despite that, we're still ending up with about 6 bottles a day. We've tried other things, but I'm not going to let my baby go hungry.

But after reading your experiences, I see that I don't really need to worry.

Don’t let the CB make you feel insecure. An average is an average for a reason. In my opinion, your baby is definitely not too heavy. Let them chat all they want. Her birth weight was very neat, nothing wrong with it. A nice Dutch girl, keep it up! And definitely don’t let her go hungry.

    Hi Daniek,

Don't let the CB get you down; every baby is different. If you're hungry, you just eat, right? It shouldn't spiral out of control, but I assume your baby isn't eating all day long. So when she's hungry, I'd just give her a bottle. Once she starts walking, that weight will fly off anyway. Just do what feels right for you.

    Lots of love
