Traffic ticket for not wearing a seatbelt

Andrea
Good morning ladies, I got a ticket last Saturday for driving without a seatbelt. However, I still don't wear the belt after the ticket because I don't think it's safe to have that thing around/over my belly. Imagine you get into a collision and the belt presses deep into your belly... How do you all handle this, and are there more people who have already received a ticket for this?

Driving pregnant without a seatbelt is much more dangerous. You can buy a seatbelt guide so the belt always sits properly around your belly and your baby isn’t at risk, or you make sure the lower strap goes under your belly and the diagonal part runs between your breasts and diagonally along the side of your belly. That way there’s no danger to your little one either. It’s explained here:

You don’t want to imagine being thrown in or out of the car during your pregnancy in case of a collision. That’s definitely not good.
I’m also pregnant, 24 weeks, and I just wear a seatbelt. It’s a shame you got a ticket for it, but it was justified. Fortunately, it made you think about what’s better and safer for you and your baby. It would’ve been even better if the officer had explained how to wear the seatbelt safely during pregnancy. That’s more helpful than a ticket.

A seatbelt is safer for your baby than flying through the windshield or hitting the steering wheel with your belly. I'd just turn him around.
