Pregnant after miscarriage

Mamma
Hey ladies,

I was 6 weeks pregnant when I started bleeding and my intuition was right.. a miscarriage had started but what turned out.. there was still another baby in there! But the midwife told me there was a 50% chance that the second one wouldn't make it.
The 'first' baby would either be absorbed by the body or would bleed out with the consequence that the second one wouldn't make it either. That didn't sit well with me but I tried to keep hope but I had such bad stomach pain, eventually at 9 weeks I started bleeding again, had an ultrasound and the little heart wasn't beating anymore.
I bled for a week with strong contractions, was so sad and broken! I wanted it so badly!
Tried to let it go well and a month later still no period..
During a check-up with the gynecologist I found out that I was pregnant again! There was a new cavity visible and the blood test was positive..
Extremely happy but also a little scared ..
I was curious if there are many ladies who got pregnant again so soon?

    Hi Mamma,

I had a miscarriage last month at 6 weeks, my first pregnancy. I didn't get my period in between, and now I'm 5.5 weeks pregnant again. I'm still really scared! I'm allowed to go for the first ultrasound tomorrow. I hope the OB-GYN isn't mad that I got pregnant so soon, since he advised waiting a month. But since my body was ready, I didn't feel it was necessary to wait (my GP also saw no reason to wait, except that it's easier to track how far along you are).

Good luck, and keep me posted on how it goes!

What a story, Mamma! First of all, lots of strength with processing the miscarriages! And congratulations on your new pregnancy!
I had a miscarriage in early October at 6.5 weeks and was pregnant again right after! Already almost 29 weeks pregnant now!
I hope everything continues to go well with this pregnancy and that you'll get to hold your baby in your arms in a few months!

Raspberry, congratulations to you too on your new pregnancy and good luck with the ultrasound! My friend of a friend also said back then that there was no physical reason to wait, just the counting. But if you had irregular periods like I did, that didn't matter either When I called the second time to say I had a positive test again, 4.5 weeks after the miscarriage, the assistant did cautiously ask if I was sure it was a new pregnancy...

I understand the uncertainty, ladies! Hopefully, you both now have a good implantation!

Thank you! It gives hope that it went well for you!

    Hello ladies,

Wow, that gives me hope that you got pregnant again so quickly. I hope everything continues to go well for you!

I just had a miscarriage myself. At 6 weeks, I started bleeding and it turned out at the GP that the baby was already gone. The days after, I got quite bad cramps (comparable to early labor contractions) and lost the rest of the tissue. Because I still tested slightly positive last Friday, the GP wanted to do an ultrasound anyway. She did that today. And my womb is 'empty'. There is definitely no pregnancy anymore. She did see some blood/fluid though. That could be an approaching period, she said. Can that happen that quickly? I only stopped bleeding on Friday. Anyway, they advised me to wait a cycle before trying to get pregnant again. Personally, I would actually just like to try again right away. What is the reason for that advice? Only because the due date is then easier to calculate?

Did you have an ultrasound after the miscarriage and what could be seen on it?
I hope I can also report back soon as an expectant mother.

    Hi ladies

I'm replying too, maybe someone else will post new messages here...

More than 5 weeks ago, I had a spontaneous miscarriage and 6 days later, the ultrasound showed that my uterus was already completely empty. I still had light bleeding for about 5 days. I was 7 weeks pregnant and because I had bleeding, I was allowed to have an ultrasound early. On that ultrasound, a healthy baby was visible and no sign of a miscarriage. They sent us home with the message that the bleeding would stop soon and that we could enjoy this good news. Unfortunately, half an hour later, the blood started flowing again and I knew it wasn't good anymore. This became reality 5 days later with an ultrasound.

Now I'm 5 weeks further and still haven't had my period... I hear a lot of stories that people get pregnant quickly after a miscarriage and I secretly hope it's the same for us. Today I took a test but it was negative. Last week, I really felt like I was going to get my period but that wasn't the case either. What I find particularly difficult is that I don't recognize the signals my body is giving me. I don't know what I'm feeling and I don't know what it is. Waiting and letting go is the best but I really find that very hard.

Who else feels this way and wants to chat about it?

To Ano (if you're still reading): The reason they advise waiting is indeed so you can calculate it more easily; it has no medical reason. Your body usually recovers quite quickly after a miscarriage.
How are you feeling now? Are you trying again already?

I'm really curious if I'll get any responses....

Hey Miesje, that sucks about your period! Hang in there!
They often say your body can be a bit off after a period, and ovulation might be later than usual, so maybe that’s why you’re feeling all sorts of things and your period is taking its time... Do you know when you ovulated, after your period (tests, temperatures, or just felt it)? Then you can expect your period about 14 days later... Unfortunately, you can only wait! If your period still hasn’t come after a few days, you can test again.

My gyn told me after my period that it could take around 6 weeks before my next one would come...

Hopefully, you’ll get some clarity soon, because waiting is indeed nothing fun!

    Hi ladies,

I’m probably pregnant again (we’re getting an ultrasound in two weeks to confirm) right after our miscarriage in April.

Did the ladies who experienced this also have few symptoms at the beginning? For example, I don’t have sore breasts. I did have that with my previous pregnancy.

    Best,

    Sara

    Hi Sara,

Congratulations on your new pregnancy! Hopefully, everything goes well this time!
I still remember that with the first one (which ended in a miscarriage), my breasts were super sensitive from the start, but with this pregnancy, that didn't start until a bit later (around week 6 or 7), just like the nausea (starting from week 7).
Having or not having symptoms usually doesn't tell you much about the pregnancy itself

    Hey Suuske,

I saw there was already a topic hihi so I thought I'd reply here.

Thanks for your quick response again. I'm driving myself crazy hahaha I'm so curious.

    cheers,

    Saar

Hihi, I totally relate! After a miscarriage, you start doubting everything so much! More than usual... It also took a while before I really gained confidence... You should know how many tests I did, for example Hopefully, you'll gain that confidence too after the first trimester!

Let me know how your ultrasound was in 2 weeks?
  11. saartje82 #12

Yeah, it's terrible, isn't it? I just don't feel pregnant at all. Hopefully it'll kick in soon, how crazy that sounds; who wants nausea, fatigue, and sore breasts, haha.
    I'll definitely let you know!
  12. Miesje Guest #13

No, unfortunately I don't feel my ovulation at all, so I really have no idea how it's going. I did think about doing ovulation tests, but it doesn't seem practical right now since I have no idea when I'll be in a good spot. I'll wait it out, but the waiting does feel long. It's already been 6 weeks on Friday.

Congrats, Saar! I hope I won't get my period again and find out soon that I'm pregnant .

But I can't help you with your questions any further. Every pregnancy is different, so you don't need to compare it to the previous one. I didn't have sore breasts at all, and a friend of mine who's further along now didn't have any issues with that either.

Anyway... I was sweating heavily in bed last night, something I haven't experienced since my miscarriage. It suddenly started again last night. Night sweats were the most obvious symptom last time I was pregnant (pretty unpleasant, hehe)... I also ended up crying my eyes out over my show, which I don't usually get so worked up about (and I did last time too...).

Well, I'm trying to keep myself from going crazy, but it's okay to hope—it's better than stressing, if you ask me.
  13. saartje82 #14

    Hey Miesje,

I totally know that "driving yourself crazy" feeling. I had some muscle soreness today, which I also had during both pregnancies. And I'm not dreaming normally hahaha.

I took a test 7 weeks after the miscarriage. So 7 weeks from the moment I took the pills to induce the miscarriage.

    Love, Sara

Oh, now you really notice and recognize those things, which is nice!

I just found a little bit of blood when I went to the toilet. It’s not really turning into a full period yet, but I’m assuming it will. I don’t feel so great today either—feeling a bit spaced out, irritable, tired, with back pain, etc. So it’s quite possible that I’ll get my period after 6 weeks. If that’s the case, at least I’ll know what to expect....
  15. Miesje Guest #16

That was me, actually , I'll create a profile.
  16. saartje82 #17

    Hi Miesje,

It's not a bad idea either to first properly close off this miscarriage and start your cycle. But it could also be implantation bleeding. Let's wait and see. Will you let me know?

    Xxx Saar
  17. Miesje Guest #18

Still no period... so it's still a bit suspenseful. I had just gone horseback riding when I had bleeding during my pregnancy but didn't know yet that it was a miscarriage. The midwife also said that horseback riding can cause you to lose a little bit of blood during pregnancy.

So maybe it's just pure coincidence, implantation bleeding, or maybe a very early pregnancy... I have no idea yet.
  18. saartje82 #19

Ah that's nice! Are you also going crazy from the waiting and the uncertainty? I am. Still hardly any symptoms here.
  19. Lea #20

Yeah, that insecurity is indeed the worst. But I really got my period today, so we can just start trying again from now on.

When do you have your ultrasound?
