Pregnant and apnea?

Hi everyone,

My name is Eline, I've been reading along on the forum for a while and have learned a lot about pregnancy from you all. I find this a bit embarrassing but I want to share it anyway because I don't really know what to do with it. I'm curious if anyone recognizes this and maybe has some tips!

It all started a few months ago, during my 4th month of pregnancy. I've been living with Marc, my husband, for years. We always had good contact and any friction between us was quickly resolved. We decided together to have kids and I never doubted this. Until Marc told me one morning that I was snoring. I thought it was a joke at first, but he said it was really bothering him and he hoped it would go away soon.

Well, that wasn't very nice to hear.. From that moment on, it was quiet on his end for a while. He didn't bring it up anymore so I thought the 'problem' was resolved. Until one day I received a package from this online shop. With anti-snoring products. That really came as a cold shower to me, I'm already a bit more emotional now that I'm pregnant.. I did try to make him happy of course. It went well for a while, but as a pregnant woman you want to be able to lie down comfortably.

Eventually, Marc went to sleep in the guest room. I got a lot of stress from this and at a certain point a few weeks ago I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night. Gasping for air and in panic. It took a while but I did get my breathing back under control. Fortunately. This was really a frightening experience.. Since then this has happened 4 more times and I discovered that my 'symptoms' matched these symptoms. Not a very nice discovery of course!!

Next week I'm going to see this ENT specialist to get properly checked out, so I was very curious if you guys perhaps had experience with this and/or tips? My relationship has now reached an absolute low point, and that while I'm pregnant...

    Hi,
That's super annoying but very relatable. I've been diagnosed with OSAS, sleep apnea... My husband used to wake me up regularly at night. My tip: record yourself while you're sleeping... That's how I found out that I stopped breathing and then gasped for air, which caused the snoring sound. If you have this recorded, mention it to your doctor so they can arrange a home sleep test. You'll get some tubes and a device to take home, which will later be analyzed at the hospital. If you do have sleep apnea, they'll give you good treatment options. I personally use a CPAP with a nasal pillow. Overall, it works super well, and my husband never complains about my snoring anymore.

It's like when people are sleep-deprived; they can't stand as much. Don't worry too much, just get it checked out, and he'll probably be back next to you soon.

    Hope this helps.
    Love,
