Nasal spray

Hi, I have a question. I've been super congested for a few days and contacted my GP about whether I could use a nasal spray since steam and saline solution didn't work. She told me that in principle I could use any nasal spray, but it's best to only use it before going to sleep. Has anyone done this before and noticed any negative effects? I've already used it in one nostril and it really opens things up, I have to say.

    Stupid GP!
Nasal spray is absolutely not allowed during pregnancy!

Indeed; nasal spray is generally not allowed. Vicks isn't the best idea, but I sometimes put it in hot water in a corner of the room, though I'm not sure if it's harmful during pregnancy (I'd say it's probably fine. To be sure: just check).
From grandma's time: cut an onion in half and place it by your bed. Not very pleasant, but it does work. In the morning, take a shower ;-)

For me, (normally) only that nasal spray works that you're only allowed to use sparingly, the one that burns like hell but actually works well. But I always swallow a bit of it when I sniff it up, so that would end up in the baby. So I don't use nasal spray. Luckily, I haven't really caught a cold yet. Sometimes my nose feels a bit half-blocked in the evenings, so I sleep charmingly with my mouth open hihi. It's like my body wants to prevent me from getting a cold, because in the mornings I always have to blow my nose a few times and sneeze quite a bit. Get well soon. I'd take a nice hot shower, or a bath with a fresh eucalyptus scent or something.
