And I also think it's very wrong that you named this topic 'annoying toddler'....
I agree with you too... It's not the child's fault... -

Thanks for your replies!
We will never talk about this freely here; it doesn’t fit our family and our church wouldn’t approve either. We don’t think kids should explore their bodies at age 12; they should do that in their own bed without anyone else around. That would be rare since they all share a room. Self-exploration is okay, but touching between the legs is off-limits for our children. We have many rules in this regard, including about wiping themselves. Our kids still live at home, so they won’t mind much.
And “naughty toddler” – I used that term because he’s really naughty and mischievous.

Horrible topic! Iza and Lexy, I completely share your opinion!!!
A child isn't allowed to discover themselves, but dad is allowed to slap the little boy's privates?!
Calling this what they do, in my opinion, with a really ugly term, and child protective services could do something about that... Instead of asking such questions and offering such "solutions" for absolutely normal behavior in your son, I'd have you questioned in church and teach respect for human beings and their nature!!!
It's really sad that such practices are still pointed out as being normal, and it's a shame for every child born within the community of such a church. It's not you who is the victim, but undoubtedly your beautiful little boy!!!!!! -

Such a shame there's total radio silence from the topic starter. I guess the teenager is on vacation

What a disgrace, tears come to my eyes. How can you do something like that to a child who is discovering and experimenting with their body? Explain to them how and what instead of hitting their little penis? Be normal, wife. I totally agree with the others here, and this wife of this awful topic. The only thing you're doing is raising your son incorrectly, and I call that abuse. If you think like that about parenting, sorry, but then I don't know what these kids do at your place. I call this crazy, at its best!!!! -

Dear --dreams-can-come-true--, I'd advise you to do some proper research before making unpleasant remarks about Jehovah's Witnesses or Muslims. I think the topic starter was referring to a church, not a mosque. Besides, I know quite a few Christian congregations where people don't even have a TV at home and children aren't vaccinated because it's forbidden. A colleague of mine wasn't allowed by her parents to wear trousers—that's only for men—and she was also ostracized because she was going to train as a nurse. These aren't Jehovah's Witnesses or Muslims; they're just Reformed Christians. I don't think this is even the main point of discussion. There are problems here that are caused by the church and the parents, not by the faith itself. Some reactions I find just as judgmental and short-sighted as the topic starter's. She's looking for help here, not in the church, which means she's closed herself off to other viewpoints. No one has tried to open her mind to consider approaching her son differently. With judgment and criticism, you're facing a closed door, and that doesn't help the little boy either! -

@mama ok,
that’s not what I meant at all... What you’re saying is completely right. But with these people, they don’t allow it either. I really have nothing against such people; on the contrary, I even gave a whole presentation about Muslims during my college studies, using games and stuff to teach preschoolers. Our best friends and my lovely neighbor are Muslims, and my godchild comes from a Jehovah’s Witness family, so I definitely don’t mean anything wrong by it!! Sorry if it came across like that to you! Besides, the parents of my godchild also didn’t follow the rule of no sexual contact with anyone or themselves, as she was also involved before they got married... but they were heavily criticized by the grandparents and the rest of the family..
What you’re saying is also completely true about TV and vaccinations in Christian communities...

Hey Daphne,
I get your reaction..
But read what I wrote above your first comment
"We" are sometimes judged so wrongly, but what this woman writes above is really terrible if you let yourself be led by such religion.
Actually, as a mother, you should know that if that is the advice you get within a church or any community,
it's a red flag.. Then it's time to think for yourself and take a closer look at the community, I'm afraid. And this isn't meant to be accusatory..
You do mean that, right?
So what you're saying isn't entirely wrong, though.. -

Hi Olivia.
Yeah, that's what I meant..:-)
It's sometimes not so easy to explain or understand how we're doing it...
But you're absolutely right...
Is the little sprout not yet on its way?
Love xx -

Did you read my reply above your first one in the meantime?

Yes, sure, girl :-)
I had read a bit about it earlier... Sorry...
But you get what I meant...
It wasn't meant to hurt anyone!
Since most of our friends are Muslims and my godparents' parents are Jehovah's Witnesses (true believers), after they were disowned, they started living a bit differently. At first, they didn't want to buy anything for Christmas or birthdays for the little ones, but now I think it's okay for me to do so. Sorry if I might have hurt you with my comment :-( It really wasn't meant to!
How are you and your little girl doing?

Hi hi, just dropped by again,
No worries at all!
I know you didn't mean it in a hurtful way and I'm pretty forgiving, haha!!
Everything's going great here, our girl is incredibly well-behaved!!
She only cries when I'm too late with feeding, otherwise I don't hear her at all!!
She just lies around looking around or sleeping, yesterday for 4 hours in a restaurant without a peep! You could easily take 10 of those!!
How are things with you,
everything still on board?? -

I get the impression that Mrs. simply prefers daughters over sons. How can you possibly threaten a toddler with boarding school? Or hit him on his little penis? I truly feel sorry for your son that he has parents like you!
